Truganina. DEC-JAN 2020 WITH THE FESTIVE SEASON UPON US, IT WON’T BE LONG UNTIL YOU’RE MAKING YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS. MAYBE IT’S THE PERFECT TIME FOR A CHANGE OF SCENERY - AND WE KNOW JUST THE PLACE FOR YOU! Will 2020 be your year? It doesn’t matter which residents of the two dozen or so Palm Lake Resorts you speak to, over the 40-odd years that Palm Lake Group has been developing these sites, you will always hear stories about firm friendships built over the fence, over a game of lawn bowls or over a cold beverage at Happy Hour. While Palm Lake Resort residents are encouraged to do as much or as little as they please, each resort’s weekly activities roster and special events calendar is brimming with opportunities for them to spend time with likeminded neighbours. And herein lies one of the secrets to authentic happiness – being part of a community. It’s true - bricks and mortar do maketh our award- winning Palm Lake Resort facilities and homes, but it’s the likeminded communities who congregate here that maketh these secure gated resorts some of the most welcoming places around. Our real assets are our people. And across the Palm Lake Group’s community lifestyle resorts and aged caring communities, there are around 11,000 people in total calling a Palm Lake Group abode their home. There are painters, potters, artisans and creatives, singers and musicians, sports enthusiasts, travellers and adventure seekers among them - just to name a few. And what is impressive is that our people genuinely enjoy their time together – be that within their own resort communities and across our locations. With a New Year ahead of us, maybe it’s time for you to join us here at Palm Lake Resort Truganina, too? You’ll find loads of options inside this newsletter, on Pages 5-7. We hope to see you soon! WITH THE FESTIVE SEASON UPON US, IT WON’T BE LONG UNTIL YOU’RE MAKING YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS. MAYBE IT’S THE PERFECT TIME FOR A CHANGE OF SCENERY - AND WE KNOW JUST THE PLACE FOR YOU!

Will 2020 be your year?It doesn’t matter which residents of the two dozen or so Palm Lake Resorts you speak to, over the 40-odd years that Palm Lake Group has been developing these sites, you will always hear stories about firm friendships built over the fence, over a game of lawn bowls or over a cold beverage at Happy Hour.

While Palm Lake Resort residents are encouraged to do as much or as little as they please, each resort’s weekly activities roster and special events calendar is brimming with opportunities for them to spend time with likeminded neighbours. And herein lies one of the secrets to authentic happiness – being

part of a community. It’s true - bricks and mortar do maketh our award-winning Palm Lake Resort facilities and homes, but it’s the likeminded communities who congregate here that maketh these secure gated resorts some of the most welcoming places around. Our real assets are our people. And across the Palm Lake Group’s community lifestyle resorts and aged caring communities, there are around 11,000 people in total calling a Palm Lake Group abode their home. There are painters, potters, artisans and creatives, singers and musicians, sports enthusiasts, travellers and adventure seekers among them - just to name a

And there were laughs galore during the games and events throughout the day.As for Fashions on the Field, for the gents, Ian (Villa 50) won Best Dressed Male in his red bow tie while our Best Dressed Lady was Pat

The residents of Palm Lake Resort Truganina hosted a lovely tribute on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2019. The tribute took place behind the Clubhouse overlooking Skeleton Creek, by the new memorial which was recently funded and installed by the residents. Pictured below at the Remembrance Day event was, from left to right, Geoff (Villa 160), Bob (Villa 198), Stan (Villa 208) and Kevin (Villa 225).

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Palm Lake Resort Truganina’s “Care Group” has organised three very successful information sessions in the past few months for our residents. A representative from Bolton Clarke joined us in the Clubhouse and cinema to present information on various topics to residents. These included:• Falls prevention: This session included tips on how to prevent falls, information

on risk factors and exercises we can do in the comfort of our homes which aim to increase strength, mobility and balance.

• Master your mind: This session included information on hearing health and recognising the signs of stress. It also introduced mindfulness and techniques to help deal with unhealthy stress.

• Understanding dementia: This session explained what dementia is, its signs and symptoms as well as how to reduce the risks and where to go to for support.

Keep your ear out for more of these valuable on-site information sessions in 2020.

(Villa 66). Alice (Villa 4) and Di (Villa 33) won Best Hat for the day, with Grace (Villa 134, pictured right) showing some flare with her homemade headwear! A fabulous day was had by all.

Wherever you are this Christmas, make sure you enjoy time spent with friends and family. Stay safe on the roads and make sure you come back refreshed and recharged for another fabulous year in 2020 here at Palm Lake Resort!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! Jo & TroyResort caretakers
