TrustedID
Who is TrustedID? TrustedID is a big brand in the identity theft industry and was acquired by one of the three major credit reporting bureaus, Equifax in 2013. They provide identity protection, credit monitoring and privacy and reputation management products. They white-label their product to many other big companies such as myFICO and AARP, and continue to expand their company in other ways. TrustedID’s corporate offices are located in Palo Alto, California and they were awarded Best-In-Class by Javelin Research in 2010. They have been in the business for ten years which gives them seniority against most other identity theft protection companies.
The fact that TrustedID was acquired by a credit bureau is almost a guarantee that their credit monitoring will give you information and alerts right away. It also shows that another business had so much confidence in what TrustedID was doing that they invested more in them. TrustedID claims to give their customers medical benefits protection as well as financial identity protection. They even offer the same plans and benefits for your spouse and children so they can be protected too.
TrustedID’s cheapest plan is only $15/month for individuals and $28/month for family members. Upon signup members will receive credit monitoring, $1 million service warranty, junk mail reduction and more. They will even scan the undercover internet websites to ensure that your identification isn’t being illegally sold or traded. Their service has been featured on major news source outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, CNN Money and Time.
There are a couple major reservations we have about TrustedID. The first thing is that we found confusing or contradictive language in their contract. For example, where TrustedID says they do one thing on their home page or another main page on their website, their contract will say that those same options are either not available or very limited (as the consumer would have perceived it). We found a few examples of this kind of problem and believe that it is very deceiving to potential customers. We want consumers to 100 percent know what they are getting before they sign up with a company.
Another major concern is that we originally thought that TrustedID was a great service, but upon real customers leaving reviews for them it seems quite the opposite. Many people have complained about being billed too much or for payments that weren’t even agreed on. Others have had bad experiences with customer representaCves or that they had to wait at least 30 minutes to talk to someone. Another complaint has had to do with features not being up to par, or benefits being taken away or added without permission. All of these complaints are red flags on our end and we take those real customer reviews seriously when calculaCng a company’s Overall Score.
TrustedID has a lot of great things about them, but they also have some not-so-good things going on. The review team at BestIDTheftCompanys.com does not feel comfortable fully recommending a company that has shady language in their contract and so many negative reviews from their customers. If TrustedID had one unique and out-of-this-world benefit that no other company offers then we could see them still being a big competitor, but unfortunately that’s not the case. We would advise that potential customers research other Top Recommended companies on BIDTC before committing to the service that TrustedID offers.

Until TrustedID steps up their games and tries to improve their product, service, and contract details we can’t see them being a true top company in the industry. Others may think differently, but we try to look at the angle of a consumer, expert and a business. We always take all things into consideration, and unfortunately TrustedID doesn’t make a good fit for people who want true protection.
