Participation and Attendance PolicyPoms is a team sport, and requires commitment. Because we function as a SQUAD, and everyone isnecessary for our routines, attendance is MANDATORY at practices and games. Not only isattendance necessary, but we require that all members report ON TIME to both practices ANDgames. If a squad member is late or not at a practice or a game then the routines cannot bepracticed/performed as they should and safety is a concern. The girls count on each other to be atpractices and games. WE REALIZE THE COMMITMENT THAT IS REQUIRED AND ASK THATYOU CONSIDER THIS CAREFULLY IN ASKING THAT YOUR CHILD BE CONSIDERED FOR THESQUAD. IT IS A COMMITMENT BY BOTH THE STUDENT AND THE PARENTS!

Practices are extremely important and necessary. Practice is the fine, indistinguishable linethat builds a good squad into a great one! They give the squad confidence and a feeling ofsecurity at performance time. Practice sessions should not be wasted by inattentiveness,tardiness/leaving early, misbehavior, laziness, unwillingness to participate or lack ofcooperation.

It shall be squad policy that disciplinary action will only be invoked as a last resort, and that everyreasonable attempt will be made to avoid situations likely to lead to such action through squaddiscussion and positive encouragement, by example, and by finding ways and means to correctnegative trends.

The attendance policy for practices and events is cumulative and will be as followed:❖ THREE STRIKES POLICY: Any member that misses 3 events (practices, games, assemblies) will be

dismissed from the program.❖ If a squad member does not attend an event or arrives late or leaves early to the event, they

will be considered absent for that event. It will not matter what the cause of the absence, be it ofpersonal nature, illness or other interference.

❖ Absences will be “excused” for only the following reasons:❖ Family Emergencies (accompanied with a note from parent/guardian)❖ School sanctioned events (i.e. field trips)❖ Illness

By signing below, you are agreeing to abide by Murphy’s POMS Constitution and Attendance Policy.
