What Are Microbes?

Microbes are cells so tiny that we can only see them with a microscope. They are the oldest type of form on the planet and go back to 3.5 billion years so before dinosaurs existed. ‘’There are more microbes on a persons hand ‘’There are more microbes on a persons hand than people on the entire planet!’’ than people on the entire planet!’’

They can multiply or transform in heartbeat.

Where they liveWhere they liveMicrobes are everywhere, they’re in the air we breath,

inside and out our bodies, our homes, the food we eat, water we drink, our teeth, tongues, toxic waste, and the grounds we step on.

Some are found in frozen areas with ice and snow like Antarctica but heat loving microbes live in boiling water, volcanic cracks, within stones, and eat hydrogen gas, sulphur, hydrogen sulphide and they are called thermophiles. Microbes cant live without water, because they need it to reproduce and function just like us.

Types of MicrobesThere are 6 main types of microbes:

• Bacteria – are usually known as germs, they can make us sick or provide us with vitamins. They eat Iron, sulphur, and sugar. They’re small and can live at boiling point temperatures and Dead cold weather.

• Achaea – They have 3 types of their own, some live in salty environments, cold temperature places, and extremely hot temperature places. Although they resemble bacteria a lot, they cannot be called that because their genetics are too different.

• Fungi – Is 1 of the world’s biggest recyclers alongside

bacteria. They eat organics like wood, rotting leaves, and other remains of damaged things. They are usually found in old food. They look like little fuzzy bubbles under a microscope and are kind of like tubes. Fungi live in soil, houses, on our bodies, animals, plants, freshwater and seawater.

• Protista – act like plants, fungi, and animals but they aren't either of them. They fall into 4 categories: Algae, Protozoa, Slime Molds, and Water Molds.

• Viruses – They are in many different shapes and sizes, too small to even be seen by a light microscope which has light and a magnifier to see tiny microbes. They can be transmitted through food and water and can cause the flu or malaria but it’s ok because 95% of microbes are harmless.

• Microbial Mergers – Help us get the vitamins and nutrients that we need.

Microbes are useful in many ways, they can turn waste into something useful, we need it being an essential factor to growing crops since plants depend on microbes to grow.

Some microbes are powerful enough to destroy buildings made out of stone!

Without energy, we are NOT fine, and so are microbes. A few breath oxygen just like us and they are called aerobes but the others that breath iron, carbon dioxide, nitric acid, and sulphuric acid. They also gain energy by preserving food.
