Mondi Coatings & Consumer Packaging offers a wide range of barrier liner solutions for the corrugated industry with the following key advantages:

• Protection of packed goods from moisture, grease, odours, aroma, oxygen, gas diffusion and mechanical stress

• Protection of the box against moisture penetration due to surrounding humidity

• Protection of the box against moisture migration from the packed goods when the contents are moist, wet or greasy

• Excellent printability• Raw material savings

Our barrier liners are produced on the basis of recycled or virgin fi bre containerboard polymer-laminated with 100% wood pulp kraft papers or other sophisticated substrates such as antistatic fi lms, non-woven, tissue, etc.

Depending on the customers’ needs, all barrier liners are available with either a white or a brown appearance. The entire barrier liner range is fully recyclable according to RESY® standards.

Raw Material Savings

When corrugated board is exposed to humidity, the mois-ture can easily penetrate and migrate into the individual paper substrates of the corrugated board sheet.

Moisture migration into all liner and fl uting substrates of a box construction can cause a reduction in stiffness (RCT) resulting in lower total strength of the board sheet (ECT), which may in turn reduce the compression strength of the box (BCT).

Our barrier liner solutions Paratén® and Paratherm® prevent moisture migration. This ensures the box keeps its mechanical strength properties, and means paper substrate weight and quality can be downgraded.

Paratén®* is a barrier liner produced on the basis of either virgin or recycled fi bres, depending on the required properties of the packaging construction. The product has a pure fi bre surface and can be supplied with a brown, white or mottled white appearance.
