Skills Development Solutions

An industry standard approach to nurturing knowledgeable and effective small business mentors.

Recent changes to both the B-BBEE Codes and Tax Legislation emphasises skills development as a prioritised solution to a national economic context of skills shortages, limited access to quality education and extremely high unemployment rates for youth between the ages 18-24 years of age.

The TSiBA Ignition Centre offers solutions to address our clients’ skills gaps and employment equity needs.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT / NQF LEVEL 8 POST GRADuATE DIPLOMA IN SMALL ENTERPRISE CONSuLTING (PG DIP SEC)

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT / NQF LEVEL 5 HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN BuSINESS ADMINISTRATION (HCBA)

In response to a need in the Enterprise Development sector for an industry standard approach to nurturing knowledgeable and effective small business mentors, TSiBA has developed a postgraduate qualification, at NQF level 8. The Postgraduate Diploma in Small Enterprise Consulting (PG Dip SEC) is a unique qualification specifically aimed at capacitating managers, mentors and advisors that interact with Small and Medium Enterprises. The programme offers elective choices in Global or Social Entrepreneurship.

The one-year HCBA is an ideal post-school qualification for jump-starting a student’s future as a commercially active, income-generating leader of South Africa. The HCBA prepares individuals for entry into higher education level studies or the world of work. The qualification has a strong entrepreneurial component and integrates the development of the attributes of initiative, communication, responsibility, resilience, and integrity. HCBA students who graduate and meet the minimum admission requirements may apply to register for the TSiBA BBA degree programme.

It is undeniable that Non Profit Companies (NPCs) play a vital role in the well-being of society, but the burning issue for many senior executives in these companies remains: where to find the money for the mission.

The move towards income generation and non-donor reliance is an ongoing and essential journey as NPCs increasingly realise that their business models must be sustainable.

To support NPC leaders on this journey TSiBA Education has designed a programme that provides knowledge, coaching and the opportunity to actively design and test new income generation models – while at the same time learning how to buffer and boost their current operational model.

The programme’s highly interactive modules include a combination of workshops, lectures, facilitated discussions, syndicate group interaction, engagement with business leaders and case-study clinics. Half-day think tanks held between each module are designed to stimulate thinking and to generate and test new ideas in a supportive environment of co-thinking with peers.

AT THE END OF THIS 8-MONTH MODuLAR PROGRAMME LEADERS WILL HAVE

• New insights into the NPC landscape and income generation approaches

• Developed and prototyped an income generation programme within their organisation using tried and tested models, frameworks and templates

• Honed their ability to lead their stakeholders through the changes their new model requires

• Built a network of fellow NPC leaders who can support them as they continue to lead sustainability in their organisations

FOCuSING ON THE THEORy OF CHANGE

Organisational leaders will walk away with a 100-day roadmap to attain their chosen goal.

TSiBA Next Level Growth is an intensive programme specifically aimed at capacitating C-suite leaders that want to gear up their businesses by adding additional product streams or who are planning on expanding through structural growth (JV’s etc.) It focusses on the theory of change and at the end of the programme the organisational leaders will walk away with a 100-day roadmap to attain their chosen goal.

This programme is ideally suited for Corporate B-BBEE funds looking to co-sponsor Business Development to get suppliers investment-ready.

ENTERPRISE & SuPPLIER DEVELOPMENT / NEXT LEVEL GROWTH

This programme aims to contribute to the shared vision of TSiBA and its corporate partners to develop and promote the small-scale enterprises which contribute to job creation and poverty alleviation in South Africa. The programme objective is to add motivated entrepreneurs whose skills, business knowledge and attitude have been honed and nurtured through accredited education and mentorship to the South African economy.

CuSTOMISABLE FOR BOTH ENTERPRISE & SuPPLIER BuSINESS DEVELOPMENT SuPPORT.

This programme will enable the selected black businesses (either existing suppliers or prospective suppliers) to revisit their systems and processes and facilitate meaningful supply chain development.

We aim to have participants driving their businesses and organisations forward independently, using sustainable operating models.

Other ways in which we address B-BBEE elements / Bursaries & Trusts

In the revised Codes the definition of beneficiaries in the Skills Development element has been expanded from employees to include expenditure more broadly on “unemployed black” people. Since TSiBA is a registered and accredited education institution, and our student beneficiaries are both unemployed and black as defined by the revised codes, all tuition scholarships or bursaries for TSiBA students now qualify for Skills Development expenditure – and may be channelled via tuition scholarship funding to TSiBA.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT / BuRSARIES

OWNERSHIP SOLuTIONS / EMPOWERMENT TRuST

TSiBA is a ground breaking higher education business institution that aims to profoundly change the future trajectory of a new breed of entrepreneurial trailblazers from underserved communities by providing them with access to quality tertiary education.

ABOuT / TSiBA EDuCATION

Since all TSiBA beneficiaries fall within the B-BBEE categories of black designated groups, TSiBA provides a number of highly effective empowerment partner solutions to address each one of the five elements of the Codes of Good Practice.

The TSiBA Education Trust

is positioned as a B-BBEE partner

of choice for companies seeking

empowerment partners. The named beneficiary of the TSiBA Education Trust is TSiBA

Education NPC, an association incorporated under section 21 of the Company’s Act (Reg No. 2004/005126/08). The Deed of Trust stipulates that all economic benefit derived in the entity shall be utilised solely for the benefit of the black students of the school, pursuant to the Codes on B-BBEE.
