1.0 BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAMME
TESL Action Research Seminar is designed to provide trainees teachers the opportunity
to present their action research. This seminar will be the final evaluation stage of their action
research which is mandatory for all trainees teachers in the PISMP programme. Nowadays,
the mastery of English Language is an important aspect in modern times. As the world
beyond borders is coming so fast, we cannot narrow our mind to what is going on within our
community only; instead, efforts should be taken to step up the plate and equip ourselves
with necessary teaching skills. This seminar will provide pupils with experience of organizing,
participating and learning in a proper academic setting.
Through the seminar, management and communication skills can also be enhanced.
Active participation in the seminar will gain participants invaluable insight into the current
trend in the world of education as well as ideas and the know-how to handle a classroom.
Interaction among each other, be it through questioning and answering or informal
discussion of one’s action research, will motivate trainees teachers to improve themselves in
order to be better teachers.
2.0 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
This TESL Action Research Seminar aims to:
i. present all trainees’ teachers’ action research which is compulsory for their final year
ii. get direct feedback from the panel
iii. get self-confidence to present in front of colleagues
iv. reflect on the experience gained through seminar and presentation
