    DATE and PlACE OF BIRTH February 4,1937

    lincoln, AR A tribute to Loyd Rich DATE and PLACE OF DEATH

    February ts, 19Bs I've been in Lincoln about three

    years now and when I first moved here 1 wondered what the young people did for recteation around town. 1 noticed Rich's Recreation on the corner of the square and decided to visit the place one evening. 1 remember I felt a little uneasy being new in town walking into a place filled with younger people 1 didn't know and who didn't know me. 1 found a stick, got a table and shot a few racks by myself. It had been sometime since 1 had held a stick at the table and 1 was trying to remember how to shoat, trying not to look too uncomfortable about being a new face in the place.

    Then 1 met Leyd; he asked if 1 wanted to play a couple games. As we played on into the late night we talked over the table. l learned a number of things that first evening at Rich's Recreation. I learned that Loyd cared about people and especi-ally the young people of the community. As I watched him interact with the young people that night, I teamed that they liked him and respected him. He had a way of relating to them. I liked Loyd. Even thPllgh we were different in so many ways, there was a lot we shared togetht:r. We .shared the enjoyment of a good game of eight-ball and a t:tmcem for yomzg people.

    Silh:e that first night at Rich's Recte -u Ceater my respect for l.q)rd ~ 10 grow. Now it's a ··l·~-·~s:~ -~¥:· .. ::-. .. -...-#~.::-:,l) __ :) '"··"'-·"·~

    couple years, a lot of evenings, a good many late-night westerns, and a whole lot of eight balls in the pocket later.

    With Loyd's passing, some have lost a dear loved one, some a close friend, some a good pool partner, but 1 really believe that the young_ people of our community have suffered one of the greatest losses. Somewhere to go when there's nothing else to do in town, someone who cared for them just the way they were, someone to talk to when they were feeling down. All who knew Loyd suffered loss. But please let us never lose the care and concern for the young people of our community that he always carried in his heart. Let's carry it on-in memory of Loyd Rich.

  • IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER

    God saw you gelling tired and a cure was not to be

    So he put hts arms around you and whispered "Come with Me"

    With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away

    Although we loved you dear1y we could not make you stay

    A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest

    God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best.
