Learning and growing together Holiday Wishes This has been a very difficult week for everyone in Manchester. The children have behaved with great maturity and kindness this week; we feel very proud of them all. We would like to wish you a safe and peaceful holiday with your families. School starts again on Tuesday 13th June. Parents’ Information Evening We will be holding a parents’ information evening on the evening of Wednesday 12th July. At this event we will share with you the many things we have been doing this year and some of our plans for next year. This event is not suitable for children. Look out for a letter soon. Ramadan As we approach the month of Ramadan we would like to wish our Muslim families a happy Ramadan. Cake Sale for The British Heart Foundation The cake sale hosted by Y4 children on Thursday was a huge success. They raised a total of £146.95. Thank you for supporting our chosen charity this year; The British Heart Foundation. Well done to all of Y4 and especially their School Councillors for organising it. Manchester United Football Coaching Y2 children have enjoyed their coaching sessions with MUFC and have benefitted greatly from being with very experienced and qualified coaches. Congratulations to Ammaar and Daniyal who have been invited for further training. Animation Creations Thank you to all the parents who came to watch the Y1 animations. The children had worked so hard and thoroughly enjoyed it. Reading Awards Our first Silver Reading Awards were given out today in the well done assembly. Keep reading and completing your reading records. These incentives are proving very popular with both children and parents. Thank you for your support in helping your children to read more frequently. Attendance For week ending 19th May, Y2 JH held the infant trophy with 100% attendance and Y3 held the junior trophy with 99.3%. The whole school figure was 98..3% which is above our 96% target. Adventure Playground Keep a look out over the holidays as, weather permitting, our new adventure playground will be installed. Anglo Saxon Day for Y5 Year 5 children had a fantastic time building their Anglo-Saxon village on our school field. This was part of their topic on the Anglo-Saxons and the children learned about runes, food, songs and life in Anglo-Saxon times. Thank you to all families who brought in resources and special thanks to the families who helped with costumes. Follow us @lumheadprimary School starts again on Tuesday 13th June
