Our very own highland dancers – Rachel Makim, Alexandra Marchand, Millicent and Harriet Beattie and Marnie Shelton enjoyed the opportunity to perform. Well done! The highlight was clearly when the MPS choir joined with the Scots College choir for a combined performance. They sang beautifully, The Circle of Life and the finale with a full ensemble of pipes and drums and both choirs, Amazing Grace. It was a powerful performance that put huge smiles on the faces of the children in our choir. CLEVER 4B-24 students spoke about heroes, proposing that a

hero is really an ordinary person who finds the strength to overcome obstacles. A very entertaining skit featuring many renowned superheroes – Ghost Busters, Superman, the Hulk and Captain America illustrating this assertion. While these characters are fast and strong, they were unable help students - Noah, Vye and Millicent overcome an obstacle - their need to finish some maths homework. A fantastic assembly item! Thank you to both classes and also to Miss Cook and Mr Burgess. Please join us for the assemblies this Friday. Our host classes are:

o KH-11 and Miss Hancock at 10:30 am in the hall near the administration office

o 5/6M-14 and Mr McDonald at 11:30 am in the new hall.

Run, run, run as fast as you can…. Congratulations to the students who represented Moree Public School at the zone cross country hosted by North Star last week. Like the Gingerbread Man, I am told that everyone ran hard over the challenging course.

Well done to the 21 students who now have a place in the district team to run at the regional event at Coolah on June 12th. Last Friday six boys travelled to Armidale for the regional rugby union trials. Mr Brown has indicated that all students – Josh Ricketts, Roydell Murray, Jade Girard, David Stewart, Kaylib Taunton and Jovan Raveneau played very well giving it their very best. Special congratulations go to Roydell and Jade who have both been selected in the north west regional team.

Passing, dribbling, defending, shooting – all skills that impressed Mr Burgess and Mrs Twartz when they accompanied the boys and girls soccer teams to Gunnedah yesterday. While Gunnedah proved too strong on this occasion, MPS students left with their heads high and the knowledge that their sportsmanship was exceptional! Well done! Girls: Rachel Makim, Emily Mills, Natalija Stanojevic, Alexandra Marchand, Rachel Jennings, Wendy Priestly, Kirby Andrews, Emily DiDonna, Piper Phillis, Selena McGrady, Larra McGrady and Ashlyn Tape. Boys: Daniel Kirkland, Matt McLane, Brayden Macey, Jaiden Eggins, Mac Orr, Logan Thrift, Dominic Kowalski, Lochie Humphries, Ruvnesh Dutt, Colby Kilpatrick, Riley Watson and Sheby Thompson-Graham.

We would like to commend students for their excellent behaviour and manners as representatives of our school. As well, we thank the parents who supported us during this event, following the system to track student results at the end of each race. Soccer: Early yesterday morning the girls and boys soccer teams travelled to Gunnedah for the second round of the PSSA knockout. Both teams showed great ball skills and were tenacious in their defence. Unfortunately we were beaten on the day but Mrs Twartz and I commend the students on their efforts and for demonstrating excellent sportsmanship during the game.
