This week is Education Week. I spoke at the K-6 Assembly last week about why education is important. Education provides opportunity and choice. The better a student achieves at school the more choices they will have when they finish. Coolah Central School will be celebrating Education Week

on Thursday with open classrooms in K-12 from 10am, a morning tea at 10.45am for parents and staff, followed by the Education Week Assembly starting at 11.30am. All parents and friends of the school are invited to attend. Shortly you may notice some work going on in front of the office on the right hand side of the path as you walk into the school. The school, with the support of the Aboriginal Education Team, are creating a yarning

circle. This will be a place where students will be able to come together to meet and celebrate Aboriginal culture. The design features a fire pit, constructed by senior students Jacob and Thomas, surrounded by bench seating. Later it is hoped to include screening from the road and a bush tucker garden. The Aboriginal Education Team meets regularly at the school and community members who wish to be part of this team are welcome. Please contact me at the school to express your interest. As always I can be contacted at the school should you have any concerns.

On Tuesday we also have the Year 10 into 11 Subject Selection night. This starts at 6pm and will be held in the school library. The Love Bites and Rage programs will also run their second sessions on this day. Thursday we celebrate Education Week at Coolah Central School and information on this is available

throughout this newsletter. Friday is our Farm Safety Day, a very important day highlighting to students how to behave safely on the farm. Mr Hughes is out at Cobar on Thursday and Friday attending the Western area Principal’s conference. I look forward to seeing as many parents as possible in the school this week. Have a great one.

Moran Photography Workshop Comes to Coolah Central On Tuesday 30

th of July, we were privileged to have professional photographer Louise Whelan come and

conduct a Photography Workshop on behalf of the Moran Arts Foundation. Each year the Moran Foundation choose schools across Australia to deliver a free workshop for 30 students. Year 5-6 students were the lucky recipients and they learnt about photographic techniques such as composition, background, framing the photo and design elements of photography. Students had a lovely time taking photos around the school and each student went home with 5 printed photographs. Students work will now be entered into the next Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize where they have a chance of winning a digital camera if selected as a finalist.
