This display showcases works by a range of Royal Academiciansincluding L. S. Lowry, Sheila Fell and Peter Blake. It also offers afascinating insight into the varied interests and tastes of Weight himself,and their lasting effect on Tullie House’s own art collection.

How a Painting Speaks with Celia Burbush - Cumbrian Artist of the Year 2017

How a painting speaks - this workshop will centre on art history, withlight, practical exercises to aid understanding.

It will be an introduction for artists, going back to pre-civilisation, usecolour, volume, proportion, scale, tone and composition insophisticated ways to communicate beliefs, ideas, and their versionof 'reality'.

It will show how de-coding a painting correctly (via a knowledge ofpainting language, plus emotional response) tells us an enormousamount about an artist, and their period in history, aiming to makeart appreciation a more accessible, fulfilling activity.
