    Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:-

    • Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). • Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). • Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). • Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.).

    Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document.

    1. Vehicle Disassembly.

    (a) Set parking brake.

    (b) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1)

    (1) Protect the fender before starting.

    (2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable.

    (c) Disengage the clips and claws and remove the passenger side door scuff plate. (Fig. 1-2)

    (d) Remove the passenger side cowl side trim as follows: (Fig. 1-3)

    (1) Disengage 2 clips and remove the cowl side trim.

    (e) Remove RH instrument side panel.

    (1) Using a panel remover, detach the 7 claws and remove the side panel. (Fig. 1-4)

    (f) Remove the glove box assembly. (Fig. 1-5)

    (1) Remove the bolt.

    (2) Remove the 3 screws.

    (3) Detach the 3 claws and remove the glove box.

    (4) Disconnect any connectors.

    (g) Loosen the instrument cluster finish panel.

    (1) Using a panel removal tool, loosen the 7 clips on the right side of the instrument cluster finish panel as shown. (Fig. 1-6)

    (h) Remove the “A” Pillar Garnish.

    (1) Using a nylon removal tool, detach the 2 claws and remove the 2 assist grip plugs. (Fig. 1-7)

    (2) Remove the 2 bolts and assist grip. (Fig. 1-7)

    (3) Detach the claw and remove the front pillar garnish. (Fig. 1-7)

    2. Prepare to access radio for floor shift vehicles.

    (a) Remove lower instrument cluster finish panel (Fig. 2-1)

    (1) Detach the 4 clips & remove the panel

    (2) Disconnect any connectors

    3. Prepare to access radio for column shift vehicles.

    (a) Remove lower instrument cluster finish panel. (Fig. 3-1)

    (1) Remove the 2 screws

    (2) Detach the 4 clips & remove the panel

    (3) Disconnect any connectors

    (b) Remove instrument panel cup holder assembly. (Fig. 3-2)

    (1) Detach the 2 claws and remove the door box.

    (2) Remove the 4 screws. (Fig. 3-3)

    (3) Detach the 4 clips and remove the cup holder.

    4. Access radio.

    (a) Remove integration control and panel assembly. (Fig. 4-1)

    (1) Detach the 4 clips.

    (2) Slightly raise the right side of the instrument cluster finish panel.

    (3) Remove the integration control panel and then disconnect the connectors.

    (b) Remove 4 radio bolts. (Fig. 4-2)

    5. Install the Antenna.

    (a) Clean the antenna mounting location behind the rear view mirror with approved cleaner. (Fig 5-1)

    Note: Mounting location must be completely dry & installation temperature must be between 60° - 100° F before mounting the antenna.

    (b) Remove the 2 release tabs from the back of the antenna, and place the antenna in the proper position.

    (1) 1 – 4 mm just right of the mirror mount behind the rear view mirror for vehicles with EC mirror. (Fig. 5-1)

    (2) Centered behind the mirror for vehicles without EC mirror. (Fig. 5-2)

    (3) By hand firmly apply pressure upward on the antenna to assure complete wet-out of the tape pads. (Fig. 5-2)

    (4) Route the antenna cable up underneath the front of the headliner as shown. (Fig. 5-1)

    (5) By hand pull down the front of the headliner and position the antenna cable up underneath the headliner as shown.

    (6) Make sure the cable is located all the way at the top of the “A” pillar so it does not interfere with the air bag system. (Fig. 5-3)

    (7) Apply 4 - 1/3 rd. pieces of foam tape as shown. Make sure the cable passes through the garnish at the bottom part of the “A” pillar so it does not interfere with the airbag system. (Fig. 5-3)

    (c) Continue routing the cable down behind the dash and down the “A” pillar to where the receiver will be installed. (Fig. 5-4)

    6. Install and Route the Receiver Harness.

    (a) Install and route the receiver harness and plug into the radio. (Fig. 6-1)

    Note: Installer may choose to remove receiver harness tag before installation.

    (1) Gently pull out the radio cluster in order to access the plug-in location and rest on a support platform to prevent scratching of dash panels. (Fig. 6-2)

    NOTE: Be careful not to put too much tension on the radio wire harness when pulling out the radio.

    (2) Route the receiver harness from the bottom opening below the glove box up behind the cross member to the back of the radio as shown. (Fig. 6-3)

    (3) Make sure you provide sufficient cable slack to connect to the audio head unit.

    (4) Install lock tie as shown. (Figs. 6-4)

    (5) Connect the receiver harness to the audio unit. (Fig. 6-5)

    NOTE: There already may be a factory connector in this location. The factory connector should be removed and plugged into the other end of the “Y” on the tuner cable. If the “Y” connector is not used foam tape it to the main harness so it does not rattle.

    (6) Place the radio cluster back into position.

    (7) Be careful not to crimp any of the factory harnesses or the receiver harness when replacing the radio.

    (8) Continue routing the harness along the cross member toward the right side of the vehicle and apply 2 lock-ties as shown. (Fig. 6-6)

    (9) Continue routing behind the vehicle main harness and down toward where the receiver will be installed as shown. (Fig. 6-6 & 6-7)

    (10) Install lock tie on vehicle main harness as shown. (Fig. 6-7)

    7. Install the Receiver.

    (a) Install the receiver onto the bracket using the 8 nuts supplied in the kit. (Fig. 7-1)

    (b) Locate the 3 receiver attachment nuts behind the glove box. (Fig. 7-2)

    (1) Using a 10 mm socket remove all 3 nuts. (Fig. 7-2)

    (2) Place the receiver/bracket assembly into location lining up the holes on the bracket over the bolts and replace all 3 nuts. (Fig. 7-2)

    (3) Connect both the receiver connector and antenna cable to the receiver box. (Fig. 7-3)

    (c) Secure antenna cable.

    (1) Coil up excess antenna cable and secure with foam tape & lock tie to metal bracket above receiver as shown. (Fig. 7-4)

    NOTE: Clip all lock ties after tightening

    8. Retighten the Radio/Player Head Unit.

    (a) Re-install the four (4) bolts.

    9. In Process Functional Test.

    (a) Temporarily reconnect battery negative cable.

    (b) Turn ignition key to ACC position.

    (c) Press the power button on the receiver/player head unit. Verify the backlighting illuminates.

    (d) Press and release the “SAT” button on the head unit.

    (1) Verify that a satellite channel is received, or a "NO SIGNAL" message appears on the display.

    NOTE: If "ANTENNA" appears (flashing) on the display - then one or both of the antenna cables are disconnected from the satellite tuner.

    NOTE: If the head unit will not tune or go into satellite mode - then the tuner cable is disconnected from the satellite tuner. (e) Disconnect battery negative cable.

    10. Complete the Reassembly of the Vehicle:

    (a) Reinstall glove box assembly.

    (b) Reinstall dash components & trim pieces.

    (1) Reconnect any disconnected connectors.

    (c) Reinstall side cowl trim.

    (d) Reinstall door scuff plate.

    (e) Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable. (Fig. 10-1)

    (1) Reconnect the negative terminal back to its original position.

    (2) Tighten the nut with 4.1 N-m (36 lbf-in) of torque.

    (3) Be careful not to touch the positive battery terminal.

    (f) Clean up and remove any trash.

    (g) Place the owner "SIRIUS Satellite Radio" brochure in the glove box.

    Proper operation of the air conditioning

    system.

    Verify the proper operation of the multi-

    information displays.

    Verify the proper operation of the 12V

    outlet switch.

    Verify the Auxiliary Input Jack is working

    properly

    NAV Antenna Functioning.

    Confirm navigation operation by AVN

    diagnostics.
