STYLING TIPS WITH JAMES TREBLE Miguel called in design dynamo James Treble to create the Turbo ‘look’ for our kids birthday party, our chef . Below are some tips on how to achieve this look: ITEM: KIDS RACING OUTFITS SOURCE: SPOTLIGHT THE REMNANT WHAREHOUSE (494 Botany Rd, Alexandria, NSW, Ph: 9698 7855) theremnantwarehouse.com.au/ AGENT COSTUME (180-184 Bondi Rd, Bondi, Mb: 0405 808 884) www.agentcostume.com/ GETTING THE LOOK: James researched the style of the overalls he was after online. Once deciding on the style he then purchased the fabric and contacted AGENT COSTUME to get the them made. It’s best to make them all kids costumes a little larger to allow for children with different heights and weights. ITEM: HELMETS SOURCE: K-MART SKATER REVERSE GARBAGE (8/142 Addison Rd, Marrickville, NSW (02) 9569 3152) reversegarbage.org.au/ GETTING THE LOOK: James chose skater helmets due to their flat surface on the top which is best to work with. James then used an under coat of white paint to prime the surface and then a different solid colour for each child. James sourced craft from suppliers REVERSE GARBAGE, that looked like exhausts and funnels to re-create a racing car hat look. The items were then all sprayed sliver or chrome and hot glued or cable tied onto the helmets. Our party kids ‘pimped’ their own helmets with stickers And streamers. ITEM: RUNNING TRACK SOURCE: BUNNINGS / SPOTLIGHT / HOUSE OF BAMBOO (13 Eirth St, Botany, NSW, Ph: 9666 5703) www.houseofbamboo.com.au REVERSE GARBAGE (8/142 Addison Rd, Marrickville, NSW, Ph: 9569 3152 reversegarbage.org.au/ GETTING THE LOOK: To create the lanes James used white gaffa tape from Bunnings, and sack race three metre Bamboo Poles from HOUSE OF BAMBOO to mark the perimeters of the running track. The bamboo poles where decorated with crape paper. The finish

ribbon was made out of crepe paper with the word ‘FINISHED’ taped on. The running sacks where bought from Reverse Garbage. The cloth numbers where sourced at SPOTLIGHT and sewn on. ITEM: TOMATO FLAT SOURCE: SYDNEY PROP SPECIALISTS (16 Carrington Rd, Marrickville, NSW, Ph: (02) 9558 8999) www.sydneyprops.com.au/ SYDNEY MARKETS FLEMMINGTON (Parramatta Road, Flemington, NSW, Ph: (02) 9325 6200) www.sydneymarkets.com.au/ PICKAWALL (please see below) GETTING THE LOOK: James used two sheets of plywood 2400 x 1200 and joined them together at the back with two braces which also held them up. An image was chosen and sent to PICKAWALL who produced an adhesive size print for the plywood. Once placed onto the plywood the shape of the clouds where cut out to give the stand a more cartoon look with a jigsaw. James then made a giant tomato from a red bean bag from K-MART and green felt fabric from SPOTLIGHT and cut out the shape of the leaves. James then used tape at the back of leaf shapes to stiffen them and mold them into leaves. The tomato stand plinth and crates were sourced from SYDNEY PROP SPECIALISTS. Tomatoes where sourced from SYDNEY MARKETS FLEMINGTON.

Ph: 1300 567 877 http://pickawall.com ITEM: TACO VAN SOURCE: BUNNINGS GETTING THE LOOK: James made the taco van out of 3 x 1200 x 1200 plywood flats with two braces at the back to hold it up and in place. James cut out the counter for Miguel to serve from. He than used a sheet of plywood to make the blackboard and black board paint from BUNNINGS to paint the board. The taco sign was made from plywood and a neon light was used to create a carnival kids party theme.

ITEM: SLIPPERY SLIDE SOURCE: TARGET MODERN TEACHING AIDS - http://www.teaching.com.au GETTING THE LOOK: James purchased the slip n slide from TARGET and the Gellibaff from MTA website. James added pool noodles around the border of the slide and pegged these in to the ground to secure the slide on the hill. The Gellibaff was easily made just prior to the activity and will hold it’s texture over night if needed. The Gellibath suggests you test the product on sensitive skin before use.
