Seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper

POSITION:The Hagerstown Suns are seeking a qualified applicant for the 2013 Season. This position will run from April of 2013, to September 2013. Starting and ending dates will be flexible dependant on school schedule. Applicants must be enrolled or recent graduates of an accredited 2 or 4 year Turf Management degree program. Because of the physical demands of the job, candidates are expected to be able to lift and transport 50 pounds and have the ability to move quickly under unpredictable situations (i.e. tarp pulls). Individuals can expect to work nights, weekends and holidays, and long hours during home stands.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties and responsibilities for these positions will include, but are not limited to: Assisting in the supervision of game day staff, maintaining the home plate area, game and bullpen mounds to MiLB specifications, edging, assisting with fertilizer/pesticide applications, aerifying and topdressing, resodding, warning track maintenance, batting practice set-up and break-down, pre-game and post-game field preparations, cleaning of shop, tarping the infield, working non-baseball events and learning a variety of cultural practices that are used to maintain the integrity of the entire playing surface. Applicant will also be expected to help out other departments as necessary.
