I was keen to review the grass seed selection when I arrived at Durham. After trying various options during the season we carried out our main renovationusing Barenbrug seed supplied through local distributor Turfcare Specialists Ltd.

SLOW RELEASE FERTILISERS WITH METHYLENE UREA

Methylene Urea (MU) on the other hand is an extremely safe way of feeding nitrogen to plants offering a truly controlledrelease pattern over a period of weeks. The mineralization of MU nitrogen to ammonium depends on the soil micro-biology.Our MU, rather than inhibiting the activity of the microbes, improves the natural fertility, increasing and sustaining thepopulation of beneficial micro- organisms.The environmental conditions (temperature & moisture) that affect the growth and activity of the grass plant also regulate theactivityof the micro-organisms. This means that the MU nitrogen is made available at the time when the grass plant most requires itfor optimal root and shoot development.

Our award winning Supertrencher+ is ideal forinstalling land drainage pipes and otherunderground services such as cables on sportsfields and any other turf areas, especially whereminimum surface damage is demanded.Our Supertrencher+’s digging wheel, in line withthe centre of the tractor, excavates soil from thetrench and this excavated soil is thrown into a largeaperture at the front of the machine, and thenelevated via two conveyors into a trailer or dumperrunning alongside. You are left with a clean trenchwhich is ready for laying piping or any otherservice required. The Supertrencher+’s conveyormounting point is hinged so that it can be turnedthrough 90° to lay alongside the body of themachine for transport. Moving the conveyor to thetransport position opens up a massive inspectionport should the need arise to look inside thehousing. Conveyor height and depth of trench areadjusted hydraulically.

The T6.140 comes equipped with a 4.5ltr (274 cu in) engine producing 110horsepower @ 2,200 rpm.

Compared to the average utility tractor which produces 93 horsepower, thismodel produces 110 hp, 18.3% more, giving it a slight edge over itscompetitors when it comes to raw horsepower.In addition, the engine produces 90 power take-off (PTO) horsepower, 13.9%more than the utility average of 79 hp, making it quite powerful for pullingimplements.

SHELTON 450 SUPERTRENCHER

The Supertrencher 450 is the most compact trencher in our Supertrencher series.

This trencher features hydraulically operated depth control from 200mm to 450mm. The trenchwidth is adjustable from 50mm to 97mm. The single conveyor folds vertically for transport andthe tractor requirement is as low as 45hp+. It may be smaller but the build quality is in no waycompromised.

The extensive use of stainless steel ensures a long lifetime free from rusting and enhances theflow of soil through the machine. The cutters have hard wearing tungsten carbide tips to copewith tough digging conditions. Perfect for use in either Sand Slitting or Drainage.

3 TONNE FAST FLOW GRAVEL HOPPER

The Shelton 3 Tonne Fast-Flow Hopper ensures fast and clean backfilling oftrenches with gravel or sand, helping to reduce labour costs.

Built mainly in stainless steel, the 3 tonne capacity fast-flow hopper is mounted ona trailed sub-frame above a smaller secondary hopper that runs in the trench. Twohydraulic rams raise and lower the hopper into and out of the trench.

The secondary hopper is interchangeable for different trench widths and has150mm (6’’) of lateral movement, minimising the risk of damage to the trenchsides. Gravel shut-off is via a hydraulically operated cupping system for jam freeoperation.

Independent STRI trials have shown that thisis the most effective machine for removing thatchwhich is one of the biggest problems for greenkeepersall over the world.The Graden Contour Sand Injection grooves areimmediately filled right to the surface. This means thatthe surface never loses its firmness, there is no collapseof the grooves, and disruption to play is kept to anabsolute minimum. INTERFIX

Interfix is a selective, systemic, post emergence herbicide use on managed amenity turf. It will control many tough broad-leavedweeds including daisy, dandelion, plantain, mouse-ear, buttercup, ribwort, yarrow, speedwells & clovers.Its unique micro-emulsion technology increases herbicidal activity which also makes it very safe & can be applied to grass onlytwo months after sowing. Apply when weeds are in active growth normally between April to September when the soil is moist.Do not apply in periods of drought unless irrigation is applied. Avoid mowing 3 days before and after spraying to ensuresufficient weed leaf surface is present and to allow uptake and movement of Interfix within the weed.

Rescue is a selective herbicide for the control of Ryegrass infestations in fine turf swards. CHIKARA

Chikara® is a long lasting total weed killer, meaning, when used at the correct rates it will control most annual and perennialweeds for up to 6 months depending on rate. For best results mix Chikara® with a quality glyphosate such as Roundup ProVantage 480. This will kill the weeds which are present, and also lay a residual barrier which will prevent any other weeds whichtry to grow.Chikara® is a water dispersible granule formulation for use as a non-selective residual herbicide on natural surfaces not intendedto bear vegetation, permeable surfaces overlying soil and hard surfaces (railway ballast only). PEARLPearl™ is a soluble concentrate formulation containing 150 g/l (13.52% w/w) glufosinate-ammonium. It is a fast actingdesiccant herbicide used for controlling many grasses & broadleaved weeds, including troublesome weeds such as Horse-tail.Pearl™ can be used around the following areas; Fence lines, Natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation, Permeablesurfaces overlaying soils, Hard surfaces & Managed amenity turf for line-marking preparation.

Although Pearl™ is mainly a contact herbicide, there is also some translaminar movement within the plant (moving around theleaf). This makes it a safer alternative to glyphosate when spraying near wanted vegetation. Stems of trees & shrubs are largelyun-affected by a treatment of Pearl™, although care should be taken as some speckling may occur. EVOQUE FUNGICIDE IMPROVER

Evoque is a fungicide adjuvant system which can also be used in mixtures with herbicides, insecticides, moss killers & micro-nutrients. It enhances how spray droplets can penetrate the leaf surface & will also act as a spreader across the leaf surface.It will stop droplets bouncing or running off the leaf tissue, as they will stick to the surface & then start to spread out – coveringthe whole leaf. Getting excellent coverage is vital when treating diseases.Evoque can improve control by over 20% when compared to just using a fungicide on its own. This is done by drawing thechemical into the plant using a unique uptake agent.While Evoque is mainly used with fungicides, we have seen some very good results when used to penetrate thick layers of mossin grass.ACTIVATE G HERBICIDE ENHANCER

Activate-G has been specially formulated to combine with the active ingredient of weed killers to improve their uptake into theplant. This is done in two ways, firstly by stopping the pesticide ‘locking up’ when used in areas of hard water, & secondly byhelping the chemical absorb into the plant using its unique ‘uptake system’. Using Activate-G stops any loss of active ingredientas it is drawn into the plant rather than sitting on the surface & evaporating or running off.Mixing Activate-G with herbicides such as glyphosate & grassland products has significantly enhanced the speed &effectiveness of the kill. Typically, adding in this product sped up herbicides by 7-10 days & helped reduce the time taken forthe herbicide to dry on the leaf by several hours. Aqua Tick™ is a unique adjuvant designed to adjust the quality of water in the spray tank and maximise the efficiency andeffectiveness of chemical sprays .It improves pesticide performance by buffering the pH to a mildly acidic level to maximisealkaline hydrolysis and improve uptake by the plant. It will also bind with dissolved salts in hard water that can adhere topesticide molecules and slow down or even prevent uptake to the chemical to the plant. PRICES. Prices charged will be those current at the date of despatch or collection and are therefore subjectto alteration without prior notice.

WEIGHTS Unless otherwise stated all weights mentioned in this price list, or on containers, indicate grossweight when packed.

LIABILITY No liability shall fall on the seller from any injury, loss or damage, caused either directly orotherwise, by the goods.

TITLE All goods shall remain the property of T.S.L. until due payment has been made in full.

TERMS OF PAYMENT Net cash on, or before, 30 days from the date of invoice. The seller reserves theright to payment on request. Any invoice outstanding after 30 days may have interest added on a daily basissubject to current legislation.

FORCE MAJEURE Orders are accepted subject to force majeure and subject to supplies being available.The seller has the right to suspend, or cancel, wholly or in part, any orders they may have on hand, at anytime.

DELIVERY No guarantees can be given that the goods will be delivered at any specified time. Deliveriesare subject to the availability of transport.

NON-DELIVERY, LOSS OR DAMAGE The seller shall not be deemed responsible, in any case, fornon-delivery, loss or damage, unless the buyer complies with the following; The buyer must advise the sellerand the carrier, in writing, within the following time limits :-A. Non-delivery of the whole consignment, or any separate part of it, within TEN DAYS of despatch orinvoice.B. Partial loss of or damage to any goods, within THREE DAYS of delivery.

DELIVERY SURCHARGE . We regret that due to high administration costs, orders under £40.00, exclusiveof V.A.T. and carriage charges, may be subject to a surcharge of £5.00.

QUALITY. We reserve the right to use alternative materials when we deem that they are more suitable, ornecessary.

RETURNS No goods can be accepted back for credit without permission and a 15% handling charge willapply. On heavy goods or equipment, any additional carriage charges incurred may also be levied. This willnot apply where there is a justifiable complaint against the quality of the goods.

MACHINERY HIRE. T.S.L. cannot be held responsible for any injury to an operator, or any other person,or damage to any property, howsoever caused. All guards must be kept in place during any period of use andit remains the operators responsibility to lubricate and maintain the equipment as directed.
