  • PROTECTING THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT

    A ranger-led introduction to marine debris, how it reaches our oceans, its effect on our wildlife, and how we can stop it at the source. Suitable for ages 12+. Younger families are welcome to explore the Antarctic Journey attraction next door during this time.

    RESEARCH TECHNOLOGIES ON SEAL POPULATIONS AND MARINE DEBRIS

    Dr Rebecca McIntosh will discuss her research on the Australian fur seal population and the introduction of drone technology. Learn how you can introduce this STEM research into your classroom.Suitable for ages 12+. Younger families are welcome to explore the Antarctic Journey attraction next door during this time.

    MARINE DEBRIS CITIZEN SCIENCE

    Take part in the Turn the Tide citizen science program, collecting and analysing data on marine debris on the world famous Penguin Parade beach. Chat to a knowledgeable ranger about the natural creatures on the beach, the geology and history of the area.Suitable for all ages.

    NATURE’S BOUNTY

    Discover the natural resources that can be used to connect students to nature and how you can take the classroom outdoors to achieve curriculum outcomes.Suitable for all ages.

    PENGUIN PARADE VIEWING

    Take a self-guided waddle on the wild side and see Phillip Island’s world famous penguins return home at dusk.Suitable for all ages.

    ISLAND ARK RESEARCH TALK

    Join threatened species researcher Dr Duncan Sutherland to learn how Phillip Island Nature Parks have become a safe haven for threatened species, such as the extinct-in-the-wild eastern barred bandicoot.Suitable for ages 12+. Younger families may wish to join a ranger outside for family activities.

    BANDICOOT SPOTLIGHT TOUR

    Catch a glimpse of the threatened eastern barred bandicoot on a ranger led spotlight tour. Suitable for all ages. Limited availability, bookings essential.

    PLANT PROPAGATION & HABITAT PLANTING

    Learn how to propagate your own native plant to take back to your school or home garden. Make a difference on Phillip Island by helping to plant new habitat. Suitable for all ages. Limited availability, bookings essential.

    KOALA TREE TOP TRAVELS

    Experience an up close encounter with koalas. Walk and talk with rangers to learn the threats and conservation of our furry friends.

    SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH TIME

    Take a step back in time with a ranger to reflect on sustainability practices used throughout Australian history. Get the family involved in some old time games as time unwinds at Churchill Island.Suitable for all ages.

    CHURCHILL ISLAND FARMING ACTIVITIES

    Immerse yourself in the farming lifestyle by trying to milk a cow, see a sheep shearing demonstration, crack a stockwhip and see working dogs in action as they round up sheep.Suitable for all ages.
