Introduction
The Turnitin plugin installed on Blackboard provides tutors with the ability to create Turnitin
assignments from within existing Blackboard courses. Students can upload their
assignments, (without the need to log in at the separate Turnitin website) and view their
originality reports.
Tutors can create assignment areas that students can use in a formative manner to help
them improve their referencing and citation skills.
Creating a Turnitin assignment
It is a good idea to create a separate content page within your Blackboard course so that
you add your Turnitin assignment to a clearly defined area of the course. In addition, adding
the assignment in this way makes it easier to hide the assignment at a later date if
necessary.
Ensure that Edit Mode is on
Click on the + icon to add a new Content Area. Select Content Area.

Using GradeMark
Grademark allows instructors to carry out online marking of student assignments. Tutors
can insert written comments into the student paper and record voice comments as
feedback. It also allows tutors to drag and drop prepopulated feedback tabs into the
assignment, such as improper citation, vague, citation needed etc.
To access grademark select the icon below
You can then use the commonly used tags below to add comments
You can then Save your comment onto the student paper. An overall mark can be inserted
at the top of the page.
You can also record voice comments up to 3 minutes long directly onto the assignment
submission.

Before using Grademark it is recommended that you contact registry ([email protected])
to inform them that you will not be using SOLE for student assignment submission. You are
also advised to contact LTTU ([email protected]) if you have any doubts about the grademark
settings.
