Solar heating is the cleanest of all energy sources. At the

same time the energy from the sun is cheap and the costs

are stable over time. The most efficient way to harvest

the sun is with large-scale solar thermal installations.

Arcon-Sunmark has developed the world’s most advanced

and comprehensive solutions, tailor-made for large-scale

solar thermal installations. The company has installed the

largest solar heating plants in Europe – and even the

largest plant in the world. Our very first large project

(1988) is still working to perfection and providing clean

and cheap energy for citizens in the village Saltum,

Denmark. In total, we are behind more than 100

installations > 1,000 m2 and we keep on supplying the

market with the most efficient solar heating solutions.

Since 1974 Arcon-Sunmark has installed more than 1.1

million m2 solar collectors in a great variety of locations

and industries; district heating plants, breweries, mines

and in the greenhouse industry. Our collected data,

learnings and hands-on experience from all these projects

are turned into real benefits for the customers, who can

trust us to deliver individual, tailor-made, efficient and

reliable solutions.

Besides giving light and life, the sun produces enormous amounts of

energy – and heat. The sun is the cleanest energy source as it emits

no CO2 and offers a lot of other benefits. It is cheap, it is clean and it

is lean. Danish Arcon-Sunmark provides the large-scale solar thermal

installations, which make it possible to harvest the sun, turning it into

stable and low heating costs and a greener image, while at the same

time reducing the use of fossil fuels.

It takes a lot more than effective collectors to establish a solar heating

plant. We are the experts, and we take care of all project stages. From

consideration, planning, decision making and approval, financing,

authority approval, groundwork and installation, to testing and

commissioning. Actually we never leave a project, but continue to

optimize the performance over its entire life cycle. At Arcon-Sunmark,

via our online monitoring tools, we constantly observe the performance

of every single installation via online supervision and are always able to

advice on how to avoid potential challenges and how to get the most of

INDIVIDUAL ENERGY ASSESSMENT AND PROJECT PLANNING: We always start with a detailed

process study of your existing plant and take every individual detail into account to ensure

seamless integration of the solar heating plant.

SAVINGS: How to optimize the performance and the savings? We do the math and calculate all details

prior to starting a project.

PLANT DESIGN: Solar heating for district heating or industrial processes? No matter the purpose, we develop

THE BEST FINANCING SOLUTIONWould you like the very best large-scale solar heating installation or simply the

clean energy? Before starting a project, of course the financing needs to be

in place. We act as partners and are able to advice in this matter and even to

take care of the financing.

DIRECT INVESTMENT: From experience we know the different and the best ways to finance a large solar heating installation,

and will be glad to share our knowledge with you and your financial advisors. On some markets you will have the opportunities

to get a subsidy. Arcon-Sunmark can help you navigate in the often complicated set of subsidy regulations.

PPA: With partners like the financially solid Danish VKR Holding, we can offer you to buy only the heating instead of the total

installation. The price will be fixed at a certain price per MWh, defined in a long-term service contract called a Power Purchase

Agreement (PPA).

STEP 3: WE TAKE CARE OF ALL SMALLDETAILS IN LARGE CONSTRUCTIONSWhen the project is planned and the financing is in place, the construction phase starts. Although

we think big and construct large-scale installations, we pay attention to all details.

PIPES: Long-term stability of the piping is of great importance for the overall performance. We only use

pipes of the highest quality and all pipes come insulated and with integrated alarm wires.

PIPES: We plan the entire field piping in detail and with our unique technology and proven concepts. The complete pipe solution

is prefabricated and quality tested prior to the installation. This saves installation time and money, and ensures the best possible

quality.

FOUNDATION: No matter how difficult and hilly the terrain may be, we know how to prepare the land for the optimal

installation of the collectors.

FOUNDATION: In collaboration with local specialists and partners, we make sure that the groundwork is

done to perfection.

and special innovative and elegant steel foundation solutions.

The HT-HEATstore collector offers

highly documented efficiency. It is

specially designed with Anti Reflex

(AR) coated glazing, a high-performance

laser welded selective absorber and

is additionally equipped with a special

FEP foil. We recommend the HT-

HEATstore collectors for installations

requiring high temperatures as e.g. in

the industry or for heat storage. HT-

HEATstore is a reliable and thoroughly

tested product available in different

versions, with different pipe dimensions

thus making it possible to optimize

the flow conditions for the specific

installation.

The HT-HEATboost collector offers a

high yield at a competitive price and is

a reliable and thoroughly tested product.

It is designed with Anti Reflex (AR)

coated glazing and a high-performance

laser welded absorber with selective

coating. We recommend the HT-

HEATboost collectors for installations

requiring lower temperatures, e.g.

for production of water requiring

temperatures up to 85°C. We further

recommend the HT-HEATboost collectors

SOLAR COLLECTORS: We have the most efficient and durable

solar collectors, developed and manufactured by Arcon-Sunmark.

They simply do the job better than any other solar collector.

We combine different collector types for each individual project.

CONTROL SYSTEMS: The control system is the brain of the installation and where it all comes together. That’s

why reliability is key. The Arcon-Sunmark control system is based on more than 25 years experience of designing,

constructing and controlling solar stations. All our control units are based on the Siemens PLC (S7), and they all

contain an IGSS SCADA system offering a harmonious and clear user interface that is available in English, German,

Spanish or Danish.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS: All wiring for the control unit on the heat exchanger unit is pre-fabricated. Merely the

power supply must be added to establish the connection from the control board to the temperature sensors and solar

radiation meters in the solar field. This connection is often made as a fibre cable.

SOLAR STATIONS: When delivered the solar station is pre-insulated, wired and tested, ready for start-up. The control

system enables live data exchange for performance optimization and alarm handling, and the station has an integrated

by-pass for heat discharge and anti-freeze protection, which allows for higher solar fractions and a lower glycol

percentage.

The first step in the process of establishing a seasonal storage that will

extend the use of the sun and make the solution even more profitable, is to

create a large pit and cover it with a welded liner.

SEASONAL STORAGE: We have the expertise to build/integrate seasonal storage to store excess heat for periods where the sun

delivers less energy. A huge thermal seasonal storage encapsulated by a welded liner allows the energy to be stored in water.

Finally the storage pit is covered with a layer of floating insulation.

Surplus energy from the sun or other heating sources is stored in hot water for it to be used for day to night variation, as well as

seasonal storage, from summer to winter, extending the use of the sun and making the solutions even more profitable.

STEP 4: WE INSTALL,SO YOU CAN HARVEST AND STORE THE ENERGY

And you harvest the sun with the most advanced and efficient solar collectors,

but the next step in the process is not less important. From our extensive

research and daily operational experiences we have the technological know-

how to turn the collected solar radiation into heat in a way that optimizes the

performance. When different sources of energy are used, we know how to

integrate and create synergies.

LEAN PIPING:

Piping is an important part of a

large-scale solar heating installation.

Arcon-Sunmark uses a unique

method, where complete pipe

systems are prefabricated at our

own factories prior to installation.

This leads to higher quality and

shorter installation time.

PUMP INSTALLATION:

The heat absorbed by the solar

collectors is led into the solar

station. The solar station includes

pumps, heat exchanger, control

valves and necessary service

valves for easy maintenance.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION:

We use the latest technology, based

on SCADA systems and industrial

PLC hardware, to optimize the plant

performance and durability.

Operational excellence and optimization are extremely important to get the

most out of the harvested sun. Arcon-Sunmark will follow up and perform

service checks including onsite inspections to ensure optimum system

operation. With remote access 24/7 we are always on top of the situation

for every individual installation and can assist in optimizing the performance.

No company is more dedicated to quality assurance than us, and thanks

to our experiences from the many different implementations we have

been responsible for, we have the in-depth knowledge on how to optimize

operational performance. We collect and combine all data and use the

information for an ongoing fine-tuning of the operations. We also offer

individual tailor-made service contracts.
