Front end Engineering & Design (FEED)

TSI performs conceptual engineering studies, followed up by feasibility studies. One established conceptual design is generated along with functional specification and basic engineering typically for estimation purposes and inclusion with tender documents. Engineering Services

TSI generated detailed engineering including Process flow diagrams (PFD’s) Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) detailed piping drawings for construction. Mechanical & Civil engineering on foundation and structural detail for pipe ways and general facility construction. Electrical engineering for high voltage from concept through tot construction. Process controls and instrumentation systems; design, programming and installation. Truck Loading Terminal – Port Everglades,

Florida

FEED and Detail Engineering and Procurement and Construction management services for 1.3 million BBL refined product storage terminal. Major equipment consisted of (4) truck loading racks/bays, (15) product pumps, API 650 field erected tanks, firewater/foam protection system, and pipeline pumps. Store product included ethanol, jet fuel, low sulfur diesel, ultra-low sulfur diesel, regular gasoline and premium gasoline.

CRP Station – Monroe County, Ohio

This is an expansion to their CRP in Monroe County, Ohio with the potential to have a dehydration capacity of 90MMSCFD to meet the Valid Drilling Plan for its customers. The CRP consist of gas dehydration, gas filter/separation, thermal oxidizer, and metering, along with balance of plant.

Efficient Design

TSI focuses on the overall project design and economies. Typically, engineering costs account for a small fraction of the total costs. TSI will spend additional time and energy in engineering to identify ways to reduce the overall project costs. A significant amount of efficiencies and cost savings are identified well into the design, material procurement and construction phase. By incorporating engineering and construction adjustments during material procurement and construction creates the opportunity for significant savings. Engineering performed via rate-sheet provides minimal incentive to seek a cost effective design. There is a tendency to finalize the design prior to material procurement and the construction phase – a cost/benefit evaluation cannot be adequately performed without incorporating the influence of material availability, construction labor and construction schedules. Rate-sheet engineering concentrates on billing hours and rates. This often leads to layered management and inefficient engineering evaluations which result in increased material costs, construction costs and long term operating costs. Schedule Enhancement

Projects that embrace the Turn-Key concept can be completed in less time. Projects require Engineering, Procurement and Construction. These three phases overlap when Turn-Key Management is utilized thus significantly shortening the overall completion time. The alternative to the Turn-Key approach requires separating the phases. Engineering must be virtually complete before Materials and Construction can be priced, greatly affecting the facility start-up date. Cost Reduction

During the design process, TSI will determine where costs are concentrated and then tailors the design to take advantage of cost saving alternatives. Client provided specifications, project performance requirements and appropriate codes are not compromised while design alternates are researched by TSI in the interest of reducing cost and improving schedule.

Scale

Because a Turn-Key project is several times larger (in monetary terms) than the individual engineering, procurement or construction components, the risk can be spread over a larger scope effectively reducing the cost of risk by sharing the uncertainties associated with each phase. Control

By taking responsibility for all aspects of a project, material deliveries can be better scheduled to match construction progress and design can be modified to avoid conflicts. Knowing this in the development stage reduces risk and contingency. Simplicity

Much more effort is required to manage separate contracts (and contractors) for engineering, procurement and construction than a single contractor. The reduced schedule, previously mentioned as a stand alone benefit, also results in reduced time and costs for management on the part of both the client and TSI. There is no confusion regarding who is responsible for any aspect of the project. The client has a single point of contact which improves communication and streamlines owner involvement.

Successful operations depend on equipment and people. Both need to be selected and cared for. TSI manages people selection and development with detailed care, equally equipment and process facilities must be studied selected and put into operation with long term success in mind. Developing asset management and operational strategies and plans along with personnel training and career development plans bonds the operation & maintenance people with management vision and the process facility they will operate and care for.

Compressor Station – Susquehanna County,

Pennsylvania

This Compressor Station was installed in two Phases. The compressor station was designed for unmanned operation (day time personnel only, not remote unmanned operation).The design made maximum use of modularized components to minimize on-site welding, use of foundations, and overall installation requirements.
