TV Ad Analysis

Kill your speed..Or live with it..

Personal ResponseThis advert shocks the audience because of the dead body appearing in every scene. My own personal response on this is that I find the advert very disturbing but makes its point very clear. A strongly feel that the advert has effective juxtapositions in which the child shocks the audience when he appears in random places. The advert does point out a rather serious issue that people STILL choose to ignore and it is adverts like these that may prevent further accidents, so I think this advert is a valuable lesson to drivers out there.

Target AudienceWe already know that pedestrians aren't the main people this advert is trying to get to.

In reality, the REAL victim in the ad is the driver now that he has to live with the guilt.

So the advert is aimed at drivers (18+) although the advert may also attract pedestrians to be more careful when it comes to it. But the advert makes out the real people who suffer are the careless drivers

Visual PerspectiveThe advert has many disturbing aspects to it, but they cleverly express their point by shocking the audience with surprise. For example the very first scene, you’d imagine straight away the advert is about teeth but then you see the body suddenly and shocks the audience. The body is juxtaposed in weird places to show the audience that it is inescapable.

There are also close ups of the mans face to express how much suffering he is going through after his mistake.

Visual Perspective

One of the most effective scenes in the advert is the final shot when the man turns in his sleep and sees the body lying in front of him then transitions to the TH!NK logo. This scares those who don’t even drive so the message is expressed in good quality

The MessageI personally feel that the adverts message is very important to those who carelessly drive. The advert expresses the pain and suffering that not only the child’s loved ones feel, but the man himself. It tells us that such a mistake can have a huge impact on your life for the worse and that it is vital to drive safely to avoid this happening to you. The advert is shocking but it effectively makes its point.
