    wattfacilityatFinleyStadiuminChattanooga;anda26-kilowattfacilityattheBridgesCenterinMemphis.

    TVAoperatesthreewindturbinesonBuffaloMountaininOliverSprings,withagenerationcapacityof2megawatts.TVAalsopurchasestheoutputof15additionalwindturbinesonBuffaloMountain,ownedbyInvenergyLLC,withagenerationcapacityof27megawatts.

    Methanegas,asourceofrenewableenergy,fromthecityofMemphiswaste-water-treatmentfacilityisprovidedtoTVAsAllenFossilPlantwhereitisburnedwithcoaladdingageneratingcapacityof4megawatts.

    AspartofastrategytomeettheValleysfuturepowerdemand,TVAhasagoalofreducingthegrowthofpeakpowerby1,400megawattsbytheendof2012.TVAsEnergyEfficiencyandDemandResponsegrouphaspartneredwithdistributorsofTVApowertofindsustainableopportunitiestoreducepeakpowerdemand.

    TVAmanages32reservoirsinTennessee:Boone,Cherokee,Chickamauga,Douglas,FortLoudoun,FortPatrickHenry,GreatFalls,MeltonHill,Nickajack,Nolichucky,Normandy,Norris,Ocoee1,Ocoee3,RaccoonMountain,SouthHolston,Tellico,TimsFord,Watauga,WattsBar,andWilbur,pluseightsmallreservoirsintheBeechRiverwatershedinWestTennesseeandportionsofKentucky,Pickwick,andGuntersvillereservoirs.Thesereservoirshaveacom-binedsurfaceareaofabout300,000acresandabout7,000milesofshoreline.

    TVAmanagesrecreation,natural,andculturalresourcesonmorethan170,000acresofpubliclandaroundthesereservoirsandpartnerswithlocalandregionalstakeholderstoimprovewaterquality,shorelineconditions,andbiodiversity.

    Tennesseeresidentsenjoycamping,fishing,boating,swimming,andotherrecreationalopportunitiesprovidedbythesereservoirs,aswellaseconomicbenefitsresultingfromreservoir-basedtourism.

    River Management

    TVAmaintainsthestructural,seismic,andhydrologicintegrityof19hydro-electricdams,13non-powerdams,twosmalloverflowdetentiondamsatJohnSevierFossilPlantontheHolstonRiverandDoakesCreekonNorrisReservoir,andonepumped-storageplantnearChattanooga.

    TVAmanagessevenlocksinTennessee(sixmainlocksandoneauxiliarylock),serving112Tennesseeportsandterminals.Nearly22milliontonsofcargomovethroughthesefacilitiesannually.

    TVAdamsandreservoirsinTennesseeareoperatedinconjunctionwithoth-ersintheTVAsystemtostorefloodwatersforcontrolledrelease.Operationofthissystemhelpsavertanaverageof$230millioninflooddamageper

    year.AtChattanooga,whichispronetofloodingbecauseofitslocationjustabovewheretheTennesseeRiverflowsthroughthenarrowpassesoftheCumberlandMountains,operationofTVAsflood-controlsystemhashelpedtopreventabout$4.9billioninflooddamagesinceitsconstruction.
