Walking Dead Board Game Rulesmbie apocalypse is here, and humanity is on its last legs. As a survivor, you need to collect supplies, guns, transportation, and alliesits a racewho can pick up the most as quickly as possible and make it back to Camp. But watch out! Place the chosen game pieces at Camp.an Ally pool using 4 Ally tokens per player. Then, each player takes 2 o these Ally tokens and places them on his or her character card.the Scrounge deck by shuing together 10 random Scrounge cards per player. Then, deal each player 5 cards rom the Scrounge deck.each Location tile next to its matching corner.l unused character cards, game pieces, Ally tokens, and Scrounge cards back into the box. They will not be used this game.

    ng the Game

    Board Spaces

Spaces: Many spaces are blank, but that doesnt mean theyre sae. When you land on a blankdraw an Encounter card.

a Scrounge Card: When you land here, immediately draw a card rom the Scrounge deck.raw an Encounter card.

This space is in a position that gives you some advantage over the walkers, like behind achain link ence or on top o a car. Draw an Encounter card. When you make an attackwhile on this space, add 1 to your attack roll, even i it is not your turn.

This space is in a position that gives you a supreme advantage over the walkers, like on theroo o a building. Draw an Encounter card. When you make an attack while on this space, add 2 to your attack roll, even i it is not your turn.

counter: Do not draw an Encounter card. You ound a relatively sae spot in an otherwiseving world. Walker players may still attack you here, however.

This Encounter, Take Another Turn:Draw an Encounter card. When you have resolved thatke another turn.

Spaces (Police Station, Center or Disease Control, Abandoned Car Lot, and

tment Store): You must stop when you move onto one o these spaces, even i your movementake you past it or i you already have that corners Location tile. Draw an Encounter card andit. Then draw a second Encounter card and resolve it. I you survive both o these Encounters,n that corners Location tile. I the Location tile grants you Allies or Scrounge cards, you get

    mmediately, and only once.

All survivors start the game here. I your movement would take you past this space, you may it instead. Do not draw an Encounter card. I you land here ater collecting all our Locationu win!

s: Survivors may not move through the sewers. Only walkers may use the sewers.aying as a Walker.

ns: Regions are the our color-coded sectors o the board. Each corner space anchors at region. When a card reers to your region, it means the color-coded sector in which yourer is currently placed. The sewers and Camp are not part o any region.

nge Deck/Discard Pile: Place the shued Scrounge deck ace down here. Discards areace up. Players may look through the discard pile, but they may not reorder the cards.

nter Deck/Discard Pile: Place the shued Encounter deck ace down here. Discards areace up.

    Encounters

When you are instructed to draw an Encounter card, draw the top cardo the Encounter deck and place it ace up or all to see. I the card has aStrength icon, you must fght! I the Encounter deck runs out, reshue it.

    Special Character Abilities

Each character has a special ability written on his or her charactercard. This ability may only be perormed once per game, so use itwisely. A player may use this ability only during his or her turn.

    Graphic #1Medium Priority:

I Ricks movement roll is a 6, he can move onto theAbandoned Car Lot and stop (due to the Stop sign),move to Camp and choose to stop (due to the Yieldsign), move through Camp, or nearly make it to theDepartment Store. The choice is yours...

This is a sewer. Only walkers may enter the sewers.

    End Your Turn

When you have completed your turn, discard any Encounter or Scrounge cards that are ace-up in ront o you (unless the card says oth

    play proceeds clockwise.

    Scrounging

    The Scrounge Deck

Supplies in a zombie apocalypse have a way o getting used up quickly. Ater all, gas and bullets arent being produced near Atlanta, or or that matter. You might have noticed that the Scrounge deck isnt all that big once everyone has been dealt their opening hands. Onceout, the available supplies are exhausted. Do not reshue the discarded Scrounge cards. I something tells you to draw a Scrounge carnone, you dont get anything. There are situations where cards may be shued into the Scrounge deck. This can occur even when there let in the deckin this case, the cards you are shuing in become the new Scrounge deck.

    The Ally Pool

Place the extra Ally tokens into a shared Ally pool at the start o the game. I you gain an Ally, take it rom this pool. Once the pool o Alliethere arent any more people around to join you. Allies that are bitten and/or killed are removed rom the game, not placed back into the card may instruct you to return an Ally to the Ally pool; in that case, the Ally is not removed rom the game.

There is no limit on the number o Allies you may have (beyond the limit o the number used during the game).

    Scrounge Cards

A survivor holds Scrounge cards in his or her hand until he orshe plays them. You may play any number o Scrounge cardson your turn. Most cards are only playable during your ownturn; Scrounge cards that are playable during another playersturn will specifcally say they may be played on any survivor.Scrounge cards are typically kept hidden rom other players, but you may reveal them i you wish.

Most Scrounge cards must be played beore you roll the die.I a card may be played ater you roll the die, it will specifcallysay so.

Whenever you fght, you may play Scrounge cards, even i it isnot your turn (unless a card says otherwise).

    ng Encounters

you draw an Encounter card with a Strength icon, you must fght. You may play Scrounge cards to improve your chances, but you must playeore you roll the die. You may play any number o cards rom your hand to augment your die roll. Then, roll the die and add your bonuses tot orget to include any bonuses rom the space you are on or any Location tiles you may have.) I your total is equal to or greater than theter cards Strength rating, you have won the fght. No matter how bad the odds seem, you always have a chance because . . . i you roll a 6,tomatically win the fght!

Encounter cards give you a reward or winning a fght, a penalty or losing, or both. Encounter cards with a Strength rating cause a Bite ise the fght unless the card says otherwise. For each Bite you take, you lose one Ally. That Ally is removed rom the gamedo not place it back Ally pool. I you take a Bite and have no Allies, you die.

    ighting Encounters

Encounter cards dont involve fghting at all. Perhaps you run across an empty street or an unlooted store, or maybe you have a personality conicte o your Allies. Do what the card tells you to do, then discard it.

    You Died . . .

your character dies, immediately shue the Scrounge cards in your hand into the Scrounge deck. Lay your game piece down in the spot whered, as that is where you will rise again as a walker!

your turn comes around again, remove your game piece rom the board and replace it with a walker game piece. Grab a Team Zombie badgenow playing or the other side. Shue the Walker deck and set it near you, as these are the cards youll be playing rom now on. Then, draw your

cards rom the Walker deck. All Walker players have a hand size o our.

    ng as a Walker

    er Player Turn Sequence

a die and move up to that many spaces.may play a card.your turn.ou may discard a card rom your hand, i you wish.raw cards rom the Walker deck until you have our cards.

er Player Movementer player does not have to move i he or she doesnt. I you choose to move, roll the die or movement.you move your walker, ignore all text and symbols onspaces. I you land on a space occupied by a survivor, ust stop. Walker players dont draw Encounter cards.

s may also make use o the sewers or movement,he survivors may not do. The sewers are 3 spacesnd you may enter and exit rom either side.

    Play a Card

When you are done moving, you may play one card rom your hand. I you are on a space with more than one survivor, you must chooseare attacking or targeting with the card you play. You dont have to play a card or attack i you dont wish to, but your hand reflls at the e(i you arent killed), so why not?

The higher the Strength rating on the card, the harder it will be or the survivors to end you o. Big numbers are good, but sometimes a cardeect can be more important. I a survivor has a lot o Scrounge cards in hand, a smaller attack that makes him or her discard a card mabenefcial in the long run. These extra eects take place immediately (beore the survivor can play any cards).

I you do not share a space with a survivor, you might be able to catch up to one with a card that grants you some extra movement. Thescards also have an attack listed with a Strength rating. You cant play another card when you land on your victim this turn, as you alreadyone card or the turn. The Strength rating on the movement card is your attack or the turn should you land on a survivor. You may play a bonus card even i you will not be able to land on a survivor during your turn.

There are some Walker cards that may be played when it is not your turn or when you do not share a space with a survivor: Sneak, Frenzy, a

Sneakallows you to cancel an Encounter card a survivor draws. That Encounter card is discarded instead. This is a good way to make a suan Encounter card that might have been benefcial or too easy or him or her. When you play a Sneak card, move your walker game piece tospace, and then you may play another card. This card may be played when it is not your turn.

Frenzy increases the difculty o an Encounter card a survivor draws. Frenzy cards must be played beore the survivor decides whetheany Scrounge cards, so you must act beore the survivor. Ask him or her or a moment to decide i needed. Your game piece does not msurvivors space when you play a Frenzy. This card may be played when it is not your turn.

Bitten! turns one o the survivors Allies into a walker, which then attacks that survivor! I a survivor doesnt have any Allies, you cant plasurvivor. This may only be played during your turn and only i you are not in the same space or region as the target.

Combat ResultsOnly survivors roll the die. The survivors compare their attacks to the Strength rating o your Walker cards. I a survivor ails to roll equal tthan the Strength rating o your card, he or she takes a Bite (unless the card says otherwise).

I a survivor rolls equal to or greater than the Strength rating o your card and your walker is in that survivors space, your walker is killed.are killed, remove your game piece rom the board, discard your hand, and immediately end your turn (i it was your turn). Yredraw cards at the end o this turn. Youll be back as a resh walker, so hold on to your game piece. At the start o your next turn, choosrespawn spaces in the middle o one o the our sewers and place your game piece there. Draw a new hand o our cards, then take your walker

While your walker game piece is not on the board, you cant play any Walker cards, as you have no hand while you are dead.

    End Your Turn

At the end o your turn, you may discard one card. Then, draw cards until you have our. I the Walker deck runs out, shue the Walker displace it ace down as the new deck.

    Single Player Rules

In a single-player game, your only objective is to survive long enough to get back to camp with all our Location tiles. There are no rules cthough you may set the Walker deck aside, as it will not be needed. I you die, the game is over. I you succeed, try again playing as a diereCan you win with all six o them?

    Four-Player Alternate Scenario: Team Game

In this alternate version o the game, players choose sides rom the start. Two players start the game as walkers and two as survivorsitvs. Team Survivor the whole game! The setup and objective or this team game are a bit dierent rom the standard scenario. All other rules a

    Alternate Scenario Setup

~Each survivor chooses a character and its corresponding game piece. Place that game piece at Camp.

~Each walker player chooses a walker game piece and places it in one o the our sewer respawn locations.~Each player grabs a Team badge.~Put all 16 Ally tokens into the Ally pool. Then, give each survivor 4 Ally tokens.~Make the Scrounge deck using 28 cards and shue it. Each survivor is then dealt 7 Scrounge cards.~Place each Location tile next to its matching corner.~Put all unused character cards, game pieces, and Scrounge cards back into the box. They will not be used this game.

    Object of the Alternate Scenario

Team Survivor: Between the two o you, collect at least one o each o the Location tiles, then return to Camp. It is not necessary or ecollect each Location tile. Once the ourth Location tile has been collected, i either survivor makes it back to Camp, Team Survivor winsdies, any tiles he or she has collected are given to the remaining survivor.

Team Zombie: Kill both survivors and you win! They wont turn into walkers, so the victory is shared only by the players who started the gam

    Starting the Game

Team Survivor always goes frst, so the two survivors should roll a die. The high roller goes frst, and play proceeds clockwise.

    m Zombie vs. Team Survivor

a second survivor dies and turns into a walker, the game shits into a team game.e frst two survivors who die turn into walkers. Those players are Team Zombie, andork together to kill the remaining survivors. I they do, Team Zombie wins the game!

n as there are two walker players, the remaining survivors become Team Survivorould each grab a Team Survivor badge. A survivor who dies ater this does not turnwalker but still shues his or her hand into the Scrounge deck. When a memberm Survivor completes the game objective, Team Survivor wins. A member o Teamor remains part o the team even ater death, so you can claim a posthumous victoryeammate completes the objective.

rs o Team Survivor are able to aid each other: At the end o a survivors turn, thatmay pass one card in hand to his or her ellow survivor.

The walker player may exit the sewers rom either side.

I the walkers movement roll is a 5 and it moves towards Rick, it muststop when it lands on Ricks space. Since Rick is on an Attack bonus

space, he will have an increased chance o fghting o the walker.

    Q

at happens i my survivor lands on a walker players space?hing, but now the walker wont have to move to get to you.

walker players enter corner spaces and Camp?

I play a Scrounge card beore I draw an Encounter card?

y attack bonus is higher than the Strength rating o the walker, do I need to roll?y i you played a Shotgun. Rolling a 1 will trigger the Loud text on that card even i you win the fght.

I use an Axe to boost my roll against the Walkers at the Door Encounter card?as that is playing a card.

play two Baseball Bat cards then need to use an Axe to win, do I still get the Bats back?

decide to play two Crossbow cards during a ght and roll a 6, do I get them both back?

I play the card Non-Lethal Wound on another survivor, even when it is not my turn? Why would I want to?you can play it, as the card mentions it may be played on any survivor. Why help someone else? You might be helping yoursel. I someoneto a walker early in a game (such as beore anyone has earned two Location tiles), it can be difcult or the survivors to win. Later on in the you and a riend are members o Team Survivor, playing that card on your teammate may be crucial to your teams survival.

play the Scrounge card Giddy Up!, do I have to move all 3 spaces?unless you move onto a space with a Stop or Yield sign.

already have a Handgun in play rom a previous ght this turn, does that work against a Walkers at the Door?

walker player plays two copies o Frenzy, do I need to play two Sack o Guns cards to negate both o them?one Sack o Guns will cancel the eects o all Frenzy cards played this turn, including uture ones played this turn.

survivor beats the Strength rating o the Walker card Bitten!, does the walker player die?as the walker player is not present in that survivors space.

use Loris special ability to move another survivor onto a corner space he or she needs, can he or she decline to move on his or herrn and draw the Encounters there?he or she must move o o the corner space and then back onto it on a uture turn.

y second Encounter card at a corner space is Love Triangle, i I choose the option that moves my character to Camp, do I still gain theon tile or surviving the Encounters?as you are no longer on the space that would instruct y ou to gain the Location tile ater the Encounters.

Personality Confict, i I have no Allies, can I choose to put an Ally back into the Ally pool and lose nothing?

t a ght, and the Encounter card says to draw another Encounter card. I was using a Shotgun at the time and rolled a 1, which givesother Encounter card. Are these two separate ghts or one big one? Is it even possible to have two extra ghts coming to me?will have to draw both extra Encounter cards. These are separate events, which you must resolve one at a time.

I use a Frenzy on a Walker card?only on Encounter cards.
