MASSES FOR THE WEEK

LABOR DAY

On Labor Day

we will celebrate

one Mass at 9:00 am.

The parish office will be closed.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Page 4: TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 1, … · 01/09/2019  · Elizabeth Wright nd all the sick and aged of our parish... SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR THOSE IN NEED MASSES ETERNAL

Humility is a virtue we don’t see much in our

times. It seems that bragging, swaggering, and

arrogance dominate our fashion for everything

and our Internet conversations. Who hasn’t

been irritated by the “trolls” who try (usually with

bad grammar and poor spelling) to start an

online fight with those whose opinions do not

align with theirs? Our stores, catalogs,

and online shopping sites are full of useless items

geared in use and price to the very rich,

as ordinary, useful things seem to fade off

the sales scene. As the rich get richer, the poor

get poorer and the middle class is fading away.

What is the antidote to this? Humility is a good

place to start. Devotion to God is worth more

than riches. “The father of orphans and

the defender of widows is God in his holy

dwelling. God gives a home to the forsaken;

[God] leads forth prisoners to prosperity.”

The readings today center on mindfulness,

awareness of where we stand in God’s plan.

The mountain of Sinai carries a message of

the majesty and distance of God, while Jesus’

presence as host of the banquet speaks

of intimacy and mystery. September’s shadow

calls us all to mindfulness as we prepare

to return to life outside of summer. The Christian

life holds these two places of knowledge of

God in careful balance. Even in the accounts

of the Passion we see the table of the upper

room in balance with the Mount of Olives.

Altar means “high place,” yet it is also a table.

The former liturgy of the Latin Rite began with

the priest bowing at the foot of the altar’s three

steps, chanting Introibo ad altare Dei,

or “I will go to the altar of God,” followed by

the altar servers’ response, “The God who gives

joy to my youth.” Many parishioners can recall

and recite this scene by heart. As with so many

things in liturgy, there are layers of meaning in

our worship. The altar table evokes memories of

the high places once reserved for encounter

with the holy, and the intimacy of the table

where hospitality draws us to share food and

drink.

NIEDZIELA XXII NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA

Kłaniam się Tobie, Przedwieczny Boże,

Którego niebo objąć nie może;

Ja, proch mizerny, przed Twą możnością

Z wojskiem Aniołów klękam z radością.

Tu Stwórcę swego wiarą wyznaję,

Kocham serdecznie, pokłon oddaję,

Cieszę się wielce z Twej Boskiej chwały,

Niech Ci się kłania z niebem świat cały.

PSALM:

Ty, dobry Boże, biednego ochraniasz.

Jest zakątek na tej ziemi,

Gdzie powracać każdy chce,

Gdzie króluje Jej Oblicze,

Na Nim cięte rysy dwie.

Wzrok ma smutny, zatroskany,

Jakby chciała prosić cię,

Byś w matczyną Jej opiekę oddał się.

Madonno, Czarna Madonno,

Jak dobrze Twym dzieckiem być!

O, pozwól, Czarna Madonno,

W ramiona Twoje się skryć!

W Jej ramionach znajdziesz spokój

I uchronisz się od zła,

Bo dla wszystkich swoich dzieci

Ona serce czułe ma.

I opieką cię otoczy,

Gdy Jej serce oddasz swe,

Gdy powtórzysz Jej z radością słowa te:

Dziś, gdy wokół nas niepokój,

Gdzie się człowiek schronić ma,

Gdzie ma pójść, jak nie do Matki,

Która ukojenie da?

Więc błagamy, o Madonno,

Skieruj wzrok na dzieci swe

I wysłuchaj, jak śpiewamy prosząc Cię:

Wierzę w Ciebie Panie coś,

mnie obmył win,

Wierzę, że człowiekiem stał się Boży Syn

Miłość Ci kazała krzyż na plecy brać,

W tabernakulum zostałeś aby z nami trwać Jesteś przewodnikiem nam do wieczności bram

Tam przygarniesz nas do siebie.

Tyś jest moim życiem, boś Ty żywy Bóg,

Tyś jest moją drogą, najpiękniejszą z dróg.

To jest moją prawdą, co oświeca mnie,

Boś odwiecznym Synem Ojca,

który wszystko wie.

Nic mnie nie zatrwoży już

wśród najcięższych burz,

Bo Ty Panie jesteś ze mną.

Tyś jest moją siłą, w Tobie moja moc,

Tyś jest mym pokojem w najburzliwszą noc,

Tyś jest mym ratunkiem, gdy zagraża los,

Moją słabą ludzką rękę ujmij w swoją dłoń. Z Tobą przejdę poprzez świat w ciągu życia lat

I nic złego mnie nie spotka.

Tobie Boże miłość, wiarę swoją dam.

W Tobie Synu Boży ufność swoją mam.

Duchu Święty Boże w serce moje zstąp

I miłości Bożej ziarno

rzuć w me serce w głąb.

W duszy mojej rozpal żar, siedmioraki dar,

Daj mi stać się Bożą rolą.

Pod Twą obronę, Ojcze na niebie,

Grono Twych dzieci swój powierza los.

Ty nam błogosław, ratuj w potrzebie,

I broń od zguby, gdy zagraża cios.

Czy toń spokojna, czy huczą fale,

Gdy Ty Twe dzieci w Swej opiece masz,

Wznosimy modły dziś ku Twej chwale,

Boś Ty nam tarczą, Boże Ojcze nasz.
