Jeffersonville elementary school DRESS CODE

Appropriate dress and cleanliness are vital to each member of the school community. Developing good grooming habits is a part of the educational program. Wearing inappropriate dress to school can have a negative influence on the educational process and the educational climate of the school. Each student should dress in a manner that is appropriate for school and its related activities.

The following guidelines are followed in determining whether or not a student’s attire is appropriate: • Artificial nails of any kind are not allowed at JES. Artificial nails at an early age are a safety concern and

hinder the early writing process. • If face coverings are required, (i.e. masks, face shields, gaiters, etc.) they must cover the nose and mouth while

on campus. Face coverings may be removed temporarily at the discretion of the building principal or designee for specific instructional purposes or when social distancing is maintained. The school will adhere to the most recent COVID-19 guidelines or district policies regarding face coverings. Students are required to carry a clear or mesh book bag during school hours, during school events, and on field trips.

• Apparel, jewelry, or grooming shall not be detrimental to the health and safety of the student or other students. • Apparel, jewelry, or grooming shall not be detrimental to the educational process or the educational climate. • Dress, apparel, jewelry, or grooming shall be consistent with conventional standards of modesty. • Apparel and/or jewelry shall be free from words, slogans, or pictures which advertise drugs, alcohol, or sex

or which contain vulgar or offensive writing, racial slurs, suggestive pictures or emblems or which may infer membership in gangs.

The following rules for dress, apparel, jewelry and/or grooming apply: • Pants should not be sagging. Pants must fit securely at the natural waistline. • All apparel, accessories, and jewelry should be worn appropriately and in the manner for which it was

designed to be worn. • Belts should be used to secure pants that are loose at the waist. Belts should be buckled appropriately in the correct

loop to secure the pants at the correct position on the natural waistline. • Students are not permitted to wear earrings that dangle. • Hair may not be dyed un-natural colors such as, but not limited to, purple, bright red, green, pink, etc. • Picks and combs may not be worn in the hair.

TWIGGS COUNTY MIDDLE HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

The Twiggs County School Board is committed to providing a safe and friendly learning environment for its students. Attire is not only a reflection of the individual student but also of

Students are required to wear appropriate, comfortable and safe clothing that is neat, clean and in good taste. No article of clothing shall be worn that distracts from the educational process.
