• is not a comprehensive intro into how twitter works and how you use it

• this session is about thinking of ways to express your practice as stories and how you might practically translate into social media formats.

• Twitter is used here as an example, could be applied to blogging, facebook, tumblr, vine, vimeo, youtube, pinterest, instagram etc…

• However, each platform has its own quirks and audience. Best way to learn is to try them out - find out what medium works best for you as content producer, for engaging different audiences, for creating ripples.

“If a bloke tells his girlfriend how handsome, fun and successful he is – that’s advertising. If he tells his girlfriend she’s clever, looks lovely, and is great to talk to, he’s saying the right things to the right person and that’s marketing. If someone else tells

the girl how handsome, fun and successful her boyfriend is – that’s PR!”

“Stories are surely not innocent: they always have a message, most often so well concealed that even the teller knows not what ax he may be grinding.”

Consider: the process, your USP, customer’s perspective/need for your product/service, market position (is it your local sourcing of materials, location - Scotland as a brand) - where does the value lie in your practice?

What are the stories that you want to tell and what are the stories you want others to tell about you?
