Guild Hall and Guild Hall Players will share equally in the estate of the late Edward Borkman of 47 Osborne Lane, East Hampton, it has been announced. The bulk of the sstate consists of the house at that address, which was recently sold
for approximately $15,000.Mr. Borkman, who was 59 at the
time of his death, apparently had no living relatives and left every
thing in his will to Guild Hall and the Guild Hall Players, two organ
izations in which he had, for many
years, been active as a lighting
technician.Mrs. Inez Whipple, director of
Guild Hall, said that Guild Hall’s share would probably be used tooffset some of the cost of the new air-conditioning system recently installed in the John Drew Theater. “Because the theater part of Guild
Hall was Eddie’s special love, we felt the money should be spent on the theater itself,” she said.
Harry Van Tassel, president ofthe Guild Hall Players, stated that
no official use had been yet designated for their share of the bequest.
“We have enough money on hand to do our forthcoming play. “My Three Angels," on Nov. 18 and 19, he said. “Some of the estate money will probably be used to fix up our set and costumes storage barn, which is in need of certain repairs. Other than that, we have no immediate
plans.”Mr. Borkman had been a care
taker on East Hampton estates be
fore his death on Oct. 21, 1965.
