Introduction

Automobile is one of the largest industries in global market. Being the leader in product and process technologies in the manufacturing sector, it has been recognized a some of the drivers of economic growth. During the last decade, well directed efforts have been made to provide a new look to the automobile policy for realizing the sector's full potential for the economy. Aggressive marketing by the auto finance companies have also played a significant role in boosting automobile demand, especially from the population in the middle income group.

Problem statement:

Basically there are various problems regarding two wheeler industry in india . But major ones are: Firstly there is lack of innovation in our two wheeler industry. The global market of two wheeler is constantly with innovation. Then is the price structure which plays its bit in creating a problem. With such fluctuations in the Indian economy also with the falling value of INR the lay man of our society find it difficult to manage such heavy funds for a considerable two wheeler. The next problem is the trend setting tradition in Indian society where consumer’s preference n likes play a major role. The last but not the least major problem of Indian two wheeler industry is the lack of information source for the common public.

Primary objectives:

To know the customers opinion toward two wheeler preference and the other objective are as bellow.

Secondary Objectives:

1) To know the image of product in the mind of consumer.2) To compare the level of satisfaction before purchasing and after purchasing the bike.3) To check the loyalty of the consumer towards the brand4) To know the preferable price from the customer 5) To find out problems pertaining to it and find out solutions to it.

Method of data collection:

The whole secondary data were collected from industry profile, books, magazines and internet. While primary data where collected though survey. The customer survey was done though the questionnaire. Question consists of dichotomous multiple questions ,simple questionnaire.

Source of data

There two types of da ta , pr imary da ta and secondary da ta . Pr imary da ta are col lec ted wi th the he lp of ques t ionnai re are secondary da ta was taken f rom indust ry  profile, books, magazines and internet.

Two-wheeler Industry in India:

Two-wheeler segment is one of the most important components of the automobile sector that has undergone significant changes due to shift in policy environment. The two-wheeler industry has been in existence in the country since 1955. It consists of three segments viz. scooters, motorcycles and mopeds. In India there are some MNC’s and Indian company dealing in automobile sector. The main key players who are dealing in this sector are Hero Honda, Bajaj, Yamaha, Honda, and TVS. Hero Honda is the biggest player in this sector in India as well as in the world and playing a very important role in two wheeler automobile sector. Hero Honda, Bajaj and TVS are the Indian companies and Yamaha & Honda are international automobile brand.

1.Bajaj:

Baja j i s the f i rs t Indian two wheeler automobi le company in the market since 1945 with the name M/s Bacharj trading corporation private limited. In 1959 M/s Bacharj trading corporation private limited change its name as Bajaj Auto Ltd. Bajaj Auto obtains license from the Government of India to manufacture two- and three-wheelers vehicles in 1959.

Hero Honda Motors Limited was established in 1984, as a joint venture between India's Hero Group (world's largest bicycle manufacturers) and Japan's Honda Motor Company. And created the world's single largest two wheeler company and also one of the most successful joint ventures worldwide. During the 80s, Hero Honda became the first company in India. Over 19 million Hero Honda two wheelers running on Indian roads today.

3. TVS :

TVS Motors is the third largest company in the two-wheeler industry with a market share of 16%. Infect, it is the only Indian company without a foreign collaboration in the two-wheeler indust ry . When the company opted out of the col labora t ion wi th S u z u k i i n 2 0 0 2 ,   m a n y   b e l i e v e d   t h a t   T V S   w a s   h e a d e d   t o w a r d s   e x t i n ct i o n .   B u t h e company proved the doomsayers wrong and came out wi th a very successful `TVS Victor '. TVS Motors Ltd. originally incorporated in 1982 to manufacture two-wheelers in collaboration with Suzuki Motors of Japan, TVS was one of the leaders in two-wheeler industry.

4. Yamaha :

Yamaha Motor Corporation is the auto mobile company of Japan(1953) which works in India since 1955 and providing latest technology in India from lasttwo decades. Yamaha Motor India was incorporated in august 2001 as a 100% subsidiaryof Yamaha motor corporation, Japan.

5.Honda:

Honda motors of Japan is not a new name in the two wheeler scenario in the country, they were in a tie up with the Firodias owned Kinetic group. However in the la te 90s they par ted ways af ter problems arose over i ssues l ike in t roduct ion of new models, advertising expenditure, marketing strategies and other related issues. In the mid80 Honda motors of Japan joined hands with the largest bicycle maker of India the Hero cycles to create Hero Honda which in a couple of decades or so have gone on to become the single largest motorcycle company in the world. Though Honda has come on its ownon the Indian market yet it will be providing technological support to Hero Honda for the next ten years. Thus presenting a unique situation in which the company will be in direct compet i t ion wi th the company which i t has been associa ted for near ly two decades . Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India l imi ted , a 100% subsid iary of Honda motor  company Japan eventually entered the Indian market with Honda Unicorn in 2004.

RESEARCH DESIGN:

A research design is the blue print plan for a study, used as a guide in collecting and analysing the data. The research design that would be applied for this study is descriptive research which involves gathering data that describe events and then organizes, tabulates, depicts and describes the data. It uses description as a tool to organize data into patterns that emerge during this analysis. It also uses hypothesis testing

Individuals who are salaried people and students of various colleges.
