AUTOMATED STORAGE SYSTEM
•Enables a load to be stored and retrieved by a mechanical arm•The potential barrier is the cost of the system•It cost more to establish than the most start-up business could afford
Pallet racking
•Pallet racking is a cheap, safe and efficient method of storage.• By storing pallets in a framework it is possible to access any particular pallet at any time.
• Benefit → Can always reach your necessary stock when it is needed
Drive in storage
• Is a method which rows of pallets are driven into a small space and placed from back to front.•Its allows for more space to be utilised because there are no gaps for access between the rows.
Pallet flow
• This conveyer belt system allows for stored items to be removed only in the order that they were placed.• From the back, items are placed onto a conveyor which allows access from the front.•This system works well for companies which have a high level of output from their warehouse.
• Its works like vending machine with the next product moving to the front once the first has been removed.•To store in these systems pallets are pushed onto rails which force them up into storage.• When a pallet in then up removed, their weight brings the next pallet forward.
