TZ Navigator v3
TZ Navigator v3 is our new recreational product.
This new version was designed to replace the following products:
- TZ Navigator v2 (MaxSea)
- TZ Explorer (MaxSea)
- TZ Odyssey (Nobeltec)
Our redesigned user interface will make this software much easier when it comes to route
planning and all the features you are familiar with (Tides, Currents, Weather Forecast, etc.).
All the concepts which made TIMEZERO a huge success are now included in an enhanced
User Interface fully adapted to be used on touch screens!
TZ Navigator v3 is officially compatible with Windows® 7 SP1, Windows® 8.1 and Windows®
10
NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS
User Interface
- New contextual Tooltips allowing you to access quickly to major functions (create
route, crate marks, activate route…)
Click on a chart Click on a Route
- New “Layer” button that groups in one location all the display setting (Chart Selection,
Tide Overlay, Depth Shading…), but also the most common actions.
- New contextual “Center ON” button located on the top right of the screen
- Overall User Interface optimization for Touch Screen with bigger buttons and direct
access to all common functions.
Route Planning is of the utmost importance for every boater. Our new technology assures
the security of a route upon creation. Through color codes (green/red) it is instantaneously
possible to know if the route is safe based on depth and vector chart objects (obstructions,
wrecks, rocks etc.).
The new Security Cone is a feature in adherence with the official rules of the IMO. It uses the
data in vector charts or 3D data to detect shallow areas and isolated dangers. If an obstacle
is detected inside this cone in front of the boat’s trajectory, an anti-grounding alarm will
automatically be triggered.
In addition, our new Odometer NavData will automatically display your trip information
including Duration, Distance, Max Speed and Average speed.
Sounder History – (Sounder Module required)
The Sounder history of the Sounder Workspace has been increased to multiple hours
(previously 10-20 minutes). Additionally, if you hover the mouse over the active track, the
track tooltip will show the sounder history picture.
NavNet DRS Dual Range – (Radar Module required)
TZ Navigator can access the NavNet DRS Dual Range capability from a new “Dual Radar”
Workspace.
Additionally, the Radar Overlay on the chart can be set to use either range. Use “Range 1” if
you want to use only one range of the DRS to maintain antenna high speed rotation (48RPM)
or use “Range 2” to use the second range on the chart independently from “Range 1” (regular
Radar Workspace).
New Time Bar
TZ Navigator introduces a brand new Time Bar available in the Planning Workspace at the
bottom of the screen:
The Time Bar is now fully automatic according to the mode being used (Tide, Weather or
Route), adjusting the date and playback speed automatically (for animation):
The Time Bar makes it also very easy scrolling to any time and date to check conditions such
as Weather, Tides and Currents.
Auto Chart Selection
Chart selection can now be set to ”Auto”. TZ Navigator will automatically select the best chart
source available for the zoom level and area. For example, if you use Vector charts for one
area and Raster charts for another area, you don’t have to remember to switch the chart
source back and forth, the software will do it automatically.
AIS Improvements
The default color for ARPA and AIS target can be changed in the Target Options.
In addition, AIS Targets can be set to specific colors according to the AIS target Status.
Note that you can always overwrite the default color of a specific target by right clicking and
assigning a new color:
This can be useful when you want to track a specific boat or fleet. TZ Navigator will remember
the AIS color selection even after restarting the software.
- Graphic CPA: a line displaying the predicted passing point of an AIS target is displayed on
the chart automatically when selecting the target
- The AIS list has been improved. It is possible to filter the AIS list, freeze it and search specific
targets by Name or MMSI
- The AIS timeout has been increased to allow for one missing AIS report without changing
the target status to “lost” immediately.
- The size of Targets (AIS, ARPA & DSC) can be adjusted from the Target Options
Miscellaneous
- New Speed and Temperature alarms can be set to trigger notification when specific Speed
or Temperature values are reached (over, under, within, out of)
- The chart properties (source, issue date, etc.) can be displayed by right clicking on the chart
and selecting “Chart Properties”
- The Course Over Ground (COG) Predictor can be set to either a vector (according to SOG)
or a fix distance
- Damping and Offset for various data (COG/SOG, Wind, Speed…) can be adjusted from the
“Initial Setup” Options. This setting can be useful when the GPS sends unreliable COG value
(a COG that “jumps all over the place”) to smooth the value in TZ Navigator.
- A new “GPS Status” NavData can be added to the NavData panel. This NavData displays a
clear “Good/No Good” GPS status (in green or red) as well as the predicted accuracy (based
on HDOP) and the number of satellite in view:
- The Time Zone used by the software has been added to the Current and Tide window:
Note that TZ Navigator always uses the Time Zone selected on the PC “Date & Time” control
panel:
- Forking a route (using the Right Click contextual menu) now creates a duplicate of the
Route
- Hiding Route in Radar Workspace also hide the Active Route
Note: The Active Route is always displayed on the Plotter and cannot be hidden
- A range circle around the boat can be setup and displayed on the chart:
- Range and Bearing indication can be displayed directly on the route legs (from the Route
Options)
- The Alarm Sound can be customized independently for every Alarm. This allows you to
trigger various sounds according to the type of Alarm:
- The date of the current track point has been added to the Track tooltip
- The Cross Track Error on the NavData panel now indicates the direction to steer the boat
in order to minimize the XTE value:
- Own Ship icon color can be adjusted (red, green, yellow) and a different color can be
applied for day or night.
- A new setting allows to select if True Wind should be computed using COG/SOG (ground
Reference) or Heading/Speed (Surface Reference).
- Possibility to change the plotter background color when no chart is selected from the “Chart”
button in the Ribbon. The background color can be selected from the “Plotter Display”
Options.
- New option to remove currents computation on the active route (ETA, Speed, HTS…). This
can be useful when you don’t want any currents to be taken into account in any of the Route
NavData and list information. This option can be adjusted from the “Routes” Option under
“Use Currents in Active Route”.
- Better compatibility with ONF file import coming from old version of NNS.
