For over 40 years, the Vermont Parks & RecreationAssociation has hosted Summerama, a camp-specific

training program for new and seasoned counselors andrecreation staff. The purpose of this workshop is tosupplement in-house staff orientations with a robustschedule of hands-on education sessions lead by

regional camp professionals. Summerama is the firststep toward training your staff and initiating a strong

team bond that’ll pull through the season.

Because of the changes that COVID-19 has brought forour 2020 season we will not be offering an in-person

staff training this year. We did, however, still want to bethere for the communities and staff that are still working

to provide, mentor, and teach at multiple capacitiesaround the State of Vermont. For 2020, we have put

together the following online resource guide to help ourmembership provide safe and enriching experiences forcampers in our communities. Included are details aboutcertification changes, links to training videos and other

inspirational talks and presentations, sampledocuments, and so much more.We hope you find this

information useful and relevant. Please share with youryear-round and seasonal staff members as this is

designed to be valuable to everyone! We hope to keepthis as a working document in the year to come so wecan also provide necessary updates and resources for

the years to come.Thank you for all of your workthrough this difficult time. We hope this guide finds you

safe and healthy as you provide programs andresources to Vermont families and communities.
