Latest Match report: Saturday 29th June, versus Walshaw Park Wasps

What a game, first half we won in game play although half time whistle went and the score was 1 – 0 to the

Wasps. Second half although we played some excellent football, we ran out of legs with final whistle being

blown seeing us lose 5 – 0. Text conversation from Wasps Manager: “Hi Del, thanks for the game mate, quite

nip & tuck & in all fairness you probably should have had a goal or two!!”

Previous match reports: Saturday 15

th June, versus Walshaw Park Wolves

What a game, result just does not reflect the superb game that was played with 4 goals down, we managed

some excellent football still, reshuffle of positions saw the goals trickle in to finish up as 4 – 2 loss.

Saturday 9th

March, versus Elton Lions

Brierly opened the first half with two goals. They equalised and pushed us back with two minutes left we were

still pushing for a third goal. Determination of a great team saw us eventually feed the ball through and Corrie

finds the back of the net. The sound of the final whistle seemed to take forever; at last the team achieved

what they have needed to keep their spirits high. Final score: won 3-2.

Saturday 2nd March, versus Westbury

Own goal seconds before half time saw us go 1-0 down. Heads dropped and we lost positioning. They scored a

second goal within 5 minutes of the start of the second half. We had several chances to score including an

open net. The score could have been a lot worse with Westbury having the majority of possession but we

defended well. Final score: 2-0 loss.

Saturday 24th February, versus Walshaw Park Wolves

Brierly opened the first half with a scorcher of a goal. After they equalised Corrie managed to push us back into

the lead early into the second half after some superb team work. With two minutes left we were still pushing

for a third goal. With forty-five seconds to go, saw the score 2-2. With fifteen seconds left and all but their

keeper in our box saw they sneak their third goal to win. Final score: 3-2 loss.

Saturday 16th

February, versus Westbury Blue

The team did really well in the first half with Charlie scoring 2 goals. Second half they went to sleep with no

body marking and not sticking to positions, a shame really because 7-2 loss does not justify the game. Final

score: 7-2loss.

Saturday 9th February, versus Pennine Whites

Final score 3-1 (loss) Ogaga scored.

Game cancelled due to waterlogged pitch! 12th January 2013, Home versus Walshaw Whites Saturday 15

TH December, versus Bridge Colt Eagles

With only 8 players available, this caused a reshuffle of players. Nick stood up to be Goalkeeper, Charlie moved to Striker, Ogaga right wing. What a great start after four minutes Bridge scored. This just made our team step up the game play, fighting for every ball, before a great save was made; Nick's kick cleared the halfway line, Ogaga fought for the ball taking a shot from midway between their goal and halfway line. Was it deflected off one of their defenders who knows, goal-line technology not available but the goal was given and what a cheer was made by our enthusiastic supporters. Both teams then fought hard for the ball, shots at both ends were saved by some excellent keeping before the two keepers decided to change the game and spent three or four minutes clearing the ball end to end. Final score: 1 – 1 draw. Saturday 8th December, versus Woodbank Reds The cold spell takes its toll on players’ availability, down to 8 players. Shake up of positions quickly made and we got off to a flying start with a quick save by our nominated keeper Brierley who carried out an excellent kick up to Ross, who in turn made superb pass to Nick, who continued with another great pass to Charlie, who scored the opening goal of the match. 8 minutes into the game saw the equalising goal from Woodbank. We ran out of legs and although Brierley made some great saves and kicked the ball halfway up the pitch we just did not chase the ball. It was not long before they scored again. By half time we had run out of energy. James was struggling with a cold but adamant he was going back on the pitch. Change of keepers saw Nicholas take up the challenge of keeping our goal safe. We failed to chase the ball but managed to stop the score changing, with some sterling saves being made by Nicholas, who was nominated by the parents as Man of the Match. 01st December 2012, versus Littleboro Yellows Game cancelled due to frozen pitch! 24th November 2012, versus Westbury Reds Game cancelled due to waterlogged pitch! 17TH November 2012, versus Oldham Rangers

Great game even if we did lose 2 -1. Thank you to Harvey and Alfie who went on loan as Oldham Rangers only had 6 players. Man of the Match voted by parents went to Ogaga. Goal scored by Nick. Positives we are quite a good team as we are not really getting beat by a lot of goals. There are teams in the bottom part of the league who lose by 10 goals most weeks. 10TH November 2012, versus Pennine Whites

Lost 4 – 1. Positives from the game, there is an improvement in the style of game. Some excellent play by Ross saw him Voted Man of the Match, by parents. 3rd November 2012, Home versus Middleton Whites

Lost 3 – 1. Positives from the game last time we played this team we got beat 4 – 1, so there is an improvement in the style of game. Some excellent play by Sam in goals, saw him receive the Man of the Match, nominated the by parents.

27th October 2012, Home versus Westbury Blue

Page 7: U8 Yellows

Page | 7

Friendly match arranged to keep our new team spirit up. Saw us score within the first 2 minutes taking an early lead. Second half saw us step back and allow the opposition to pull the score level a game of end to end stuff that finished with a 4 – 4 Draw, this justified the effort put in by all the players, managers, coaches and each and every parent

20th October 2012, Away versus Bridge Colts A challenging game with only 7 players available saw a rethink of positions on the field. The game was fairly even between the two teams, end to end game resulted in a justified 3 – 3 result for both teams. 7 very happy players were congratulated for a spectacular performance by management and parents alike.

13th October 2012, Home versus Radcliffe Juniors

Team was as eager to play as ever, great game to watch even though we find it difficult to get goals our spirit is great with some ambitious play from the back, who continues to clear the ball into oppositions half for fun.

6nd October 2012, Away versus Bridge Colts A challenging game was fairly even between the two teams, end to end play resulted in a 3 – 0 loss. Defensively fairly solid, unfortunately the goals were not to be for us, the lads are happy to swarm around the ball like bees do to honey pot. The final score 4 – 0 loss just does not show the enthusiasm within our team. 29th September 2012, Away versus Middleton Whites

The two teams were fairly evenly matched. We played well, showing true grit in the defence, struggling to find how to put ball into the back of their goal with only one goal scored by Tom saw the opposition win 4 – 1.

22nd

September 2012, Home versus Ramsbottom United Spirits still high from last week’s game saw our future stars run their legs off. Do you not get extra points for every time you get the ball out of your half, defensively excellent. Goalkeeping was same as attacking we just could not finish, not to worry we only formed about June of this year. 15th September 2012, Away versus Elton Saw the lads up for the game starting of spectacularly, to the disbelief of all. Half time score saw us Leading 5 – 0. To even the game up we lent some of our players to Elton. This made the game more entertaining and still saw us win 10 -1

8th September 2012, Home versus Woodbank Red A good time was had by all. Been together since mid June when we thought we would struggle for players to make a team, 11 lads turned out wearing their team strip for the first time. With 3 goals in our bag and only two conceded.
