Advocacy
Ubuntu Green has an active advocacy program at the local, state and federal levels, supporting initiatives that promote green and healthy lifestyles
AdvocacyUbuntu Green is a vocal opponent of public transit cuts and has spoken out on the adverse impacts they would have to underserved communities
Advocacy
We are a supporter of AB 537 (Arambula) which makes it easier for Farmer’s Markets to accept electronic benefit transfer (EBT) payments from low-income residents, thereby increasing their access to healthy foods.
Community Engagement
• Healthy Land Use Engagement (SBHC)• Ubuntu Green is currently partnering with local
residents, businesses and others to clean up and beautify the 2nd Avenue Underpass between the Oak Park and Curtis Park neighborhoods.
Green Youth Leadership Team• The GYLT is composed of youth aged 12-17
who are trained on how to live green and healthy lifestyles and share these lessons with their peers and others in the community
Home and Community Gardens• 2010-12 – 100 Home Gardens in Sacramento Building
Healthy Communities Target Area• Sacramento Yard Farmer• Sacramento League of Urban Gardeners
• 2011 – Ubuntu Green Community Garden and Farm Stand partnership with Alchemist CDC
