To start: Search UCAS Progress in google and a link to the UCAS Progress: Log on page should come up

1.Using the log in details given to you by the school, enter your user name and password. This will take you to your own individual homepage.If you have forgotten your password, see Mrs Hix and she will be

able to reset it for you.

2.The main screen for UCAS will appear. The first step is to fill in your Profile.

If at any point you are confused about the process, please just speak to your Form Tutor or Mrs Hix

3. Once you are on the UCAS Progress Home Page, click on the Profile tab and a summary of your profile will appear.

How to fill in your Profile

5. As you fill in and save each section, the boxes will change to “complete”. You can check your progress by clicking on the blue box.

4. Click on Personal Information and Contact Details at the top of the page. You can check that all the information added by the school is correct. It is important that the details here are the ones you wish UCAS Progress to use to contact you. NB The Qualifications tab will be filled in by the school at a later date.

6. Once you have entered your “Personal Information”, you can save any changes by clicking on the blue box at the end of the page

7. Wait until all the information is completed before you click on the green box. When you click on the green box, the summary page will show this section as complete.

8. Next click on the “Work History” tab at the top of the page and click “Start adding work history”.

9. On the next screen, add the employer’s name, job title dates worked type of work (egwork experience/Saturday job/casual job) and a brief description of your duties. Click “Save” or “Save” and add another if you have more than one job/work experience.

Everybody has something they can put into work history; it doesn’t need to be a paid job; you may help out at Scouts or Swimming Club etc.Don’t forget to save at the end!

10. Next click on the Personal statement tab. You should have completed your Personal statement during Citizenship, so you just need to type it into the blank box

11. If you haven’t quite finished your Personal statement, you can save it by clicking on the blue box.

12. When you are certain that your statement is as good as you can make it, click in the green box. When you do this, the summary page will show this section as complete.

13. The final section is for your reference. This will be filled in by your Form Tutor so you will not need to do anything with this section.

Searching for courses and adding them to your favourites

From any page on UCAS Progress, click on the Search Home link to take you back to the Home page.

14. From the Home page you can put in your postcode and then select a number of options:• The furthest distance you would like to

travel• The place you wish to study at or• The course or subjects you are

interested in.(You do not have to fill in all of these boxes)

Hit search and your options will be listed.

15. When you search for a course (or provider), the results will be initially displayed in a list. The list is displayed with the courses or providers that are nearest to your postcode first.You can also view the results by changing the tabs and looking:• By provider• On a map

You can also filter your results using the different fields.

Once you have found a course you like the sound of, you can click Add to Favourites and it will be saved under your Favourites tab for you to find later.

16.All courses added to the favourites can be viewed by clicking on “Favourites” at the top of the page.

17. Now it’s decision time!Click Applications on the UCAS Progress Home

page.

When you are ready to start applying, click on the “Start a new application”

Choose Provider 18.The providers you saved in your favourites will now appear.

Click on each provider in turn to complete the application process.

You will get the opportunity to change the order of providers at a later stage, But it is best to apply in the

order of preference to avoid confusion later.

19. For each application, tick the course(s) that you want to do and then hit the Save button.

20. You can change the order of your chosen courses by clicking the “Move up” and “Move down” tabs.

Once you have done this, make sure you confirm the course preference order before

moving on.

21. After confirming your preferences, go back to the “Applications” tab and complete your next application.

Once you have completed your applications, you will see them in the “not sent” section.At this point, if your applications are in the wrong order, change them now.To take the application to the next stage, click the “View” button.

22. In the final stages of your application, any issues will be identified before you can submit. Sometimes there might be extra questions to answer, or there may be errors in your application.When you are ready to submit, you need to let Mrs Hix or your Form Tutor know so we can make sure that the reference is complete.

Once all issues are resolved and your profile is complete, the “submit this application” button will turn blue and you will be able to send your application.

Once the application is submitted, NOTHING can be changed, so make sure you check, check, and check again!

Applying for courses23. Once you have applied, you need to regularly check for any messages from providers.The status of your applications will also be shown in the “Offered” box.We would recommend that you accept all your offers to give you options once you receive your exam results.

In the accepted box you can prioritise your orders – putting them in order of preference.
