1. Explain the difference between voiced and unvoiced sounds. Please use examples below.
A voiced sound is a sound that uses you vocal chords when you speak. “Vase” is a word like that. Unvoiced sounds are words that don’t use the vocal chords. “Fuse” is an example.
2. What does “Gift of the Nile” mean?
In Egypt, the Nile River would rise and fall and leave behind silt. Silt is a thick black mud. The silt was used for a number of things that were incredibly important. Silt was used to make bricks, and it was used as soil to farm good crops. Because it was so versatile, it was considered a gift.
3. What is social stratification and how does it work? Use examples related to Egypt.
Social stratification is how people put other people in order in regards to their class. For example, (at the top is) Pharaoh > Nobles > Scribes and Craftspeople> farmers, Servants, and Slaves (who are placed at the bottom).

A symbol is a picture that represents something else and is often meaningful. A logo simply represents a company.

Christianity and Islam are both monotheistic religions but they have different names for “God.” Islam calls god “Allah,” but Christianity does not. Muslims study the Qur’an, but Christians study the Bible.
Hinduism and Buddhism are both very old religions. They practice spirituality. Hinduism and Buddhism believe in reincarnation. Hinduism believes a god called Braham. But, Buddhism believes in a powerful force (not a god), called Buddha.
