• Everyone knows that Jen Jones is one of the best TAs in Political Science. I couldn’t havegotten through this boring class without her!

• Great communication, enthusiasm and knowledge of the material.• Jennifer was probably one of the best TAs I have had a UCI. She is very interested

and engaged in the course and is very knowledgable about the material. She makesdiscussion sections enjoyable and does a lot to ensure that her students are learning andunderstanding what is going on. Her section website with notes and the use of messageboard are extremely helpful! She is a very understanding TA, I wish were TAs at UCiwere like her!

• She really tried to get students feedback but students, at times, were just non-responsive.She did work hard to try and spark debate and conversation in class but students madeit hard for her to do so when they do even answer questions.

• She was always available, helped in explaining concepts, and always tried her best!• she was very nice• The TA was very passionate and approachable, so it was great to get her insight on the

material. The discussions were intriguing. Due to work and other commitments, I wasunable to attend more sections. Wish I did.

2. Do you have any recommendations for your TA that would help that person be a more e↵ectiveTA in the future?• I believe that all TAs should coordinate and have the same grading rubric. Otherwise, it

is very unfair. My friends who was in the other section got a 91 on her midterm whereas Igot a 71. I read over her midterm and it was very similar to the content on my midterm.The wide gap is a little unfair. But besides that you were great!

• Jen was very helpful, clear and concise. She is passionate and enthusiastic about politicalscience and has a lot of knowledge about American politics. Her discussions were helpfuland she was able to clearly answer all of my questions and help with giving tips on howto do well on the midterms and final. Awesome TA!

improve my second midterm score from a D+ to a solid B by telling me what my weaknessis from the exam. • I feel Jones has been a great discussion leader who interacts with the class and also helpsenlighten many of the ideology behind American politics. Jones has been an essential toolin the political science class and I feel on of her strongest points is been able to challengethe students by allowing them to take the knowledge they learn into the real world.

she should get a raise or something for doing such a good job.• I know she asked if we had any questions about the readings/lecture, but I would have

liked her to summarize both a little each week (because it would be good review for usand remind us what we struggled with).

• Explaining the important points in lecture and clearing describing what would be relevantto study for the midterms and final.

• Her strongest points dealt with connecting all the class materials with all the topicsthroughout the weeks.

• I really liked class discussions. It seemed like we were the most active when we all bouncedpoints o↵ each other. I also thought getting into small groups was helpful, if we didn’ttake too long and came back together quickly.

• Jen is a very good and well-qualified TA that did a fantastic job in the classroom, inte-grating both Prof. Beckmann’s lectures and reading homework into the class. She wasvery good at leading the classroom discussion and did her best to make sure that everyonewas on the same page as far as the material went.

• She had clear explanations• She had hands on experience• SHe knew what she was talking about, and she tried to have us engaged in class.• She made me listen in class and made the material interesting.• The strongest points were Jen’s valuable insight as to how Beckmann grades and what he

• clear & she knew what she was teaching about• Jen came prepared to all of the sections and made the material interesting and engaging.• Jen was always willing to get work done. Jen came to class ready to teach her class, and

as a result our class really learned a lot.• One attempt is performing group discussions on important concepts and information es-

sential to lecture understanding. This TA did use many outside examples to further discussunderstanding of the material.

• She is very good at engaging the students in the discussions and other class related mate-rial.

• She was able to connect the material in lecture with the material in discussion and clearup any questions we had. She elaborated on what was presented and gave more feedbackon the material. She was excellent in explaining everything.

• She was very approachable, and also knew her stu↵. Would always come prepared andtalked a lot about what is happening during lectures, which refresh our understanding ofthe course material.

• She would go over the concept with us and allow us to take in the information and makeus understand it.

• TA knew all the material and was very passionate about the subject. Seems very easygoingand easy to talk to.
