Registering for Modules• Must have enrolled first• Terminology:

– Programme = course = programme of study– Course = module – Course unit = credit– Most modules worth 3.5 or 4 US credits/7.5 ECTS

• Structure of an academic year (3 terms, exams completed in the final term)

• Admitted to a department (or departments)

Registering for Modules• Main department – at least 50% of workload• Second department (if applicable) – at least 25% of workload• Other teaching departments

department/on departmental web pages• Attend the ‘Meet Your Department’ induction

session (if jointly admitted go to the first named department on your offer letter)

• Contact Affiliate Student Tutor(s) as necessary upon arrival• Meet the deadline for confirming module selection:

Wednesday 18 January 2017• Parent department and teaching departments confirm

selections

Registering for ModulesThings to remember• You must take the same full-time workload as a UCL degree

student, unless special arrangements agreed• Your module selection is subject to departmental approval• Your approved module selection will appear on your transcript

Assessment• Varies between departments, so check with your Affiliate Tutor

or Portico record• The modules listed on your Portico account will be used to

register you for assessment and examinations• All students are normally required to sit all examinations and

complete all coursework– May have implications and may be recorded on your transcript

Assessment• The examination timetable is usually available

before the end of the second term• Do not make travel arrangements prior to

examination timetable production• Do not leave UCL before you have completed all of

your assessments/examinations• Transcripts - produced by the Assessment and
