OVERVIEW
This two-day conference has been coordinated through the University of California San Francisco, Division of Transplant Surgery and the Heart & Lung Transplant Program. This program is designed to provide a unique opportunity to hear UCSF Transplant experts present a comprehensive review and update on recent advances in adult and pediatric transplantation. Leaders in the field will share their medical and surgical expertise in solid organ transplant and living donor topics. Plenary sessions include the future of transplantation, the impact of allocation changes and the Affordable Care Act on transplantation, immunosuppression withdrawal, and other contemporary and controversial topics. Organ specific clinical tracks will focus on current issues and patient management strategies appropriate for each area of specialization.

The target audience is a broad cross-section of health care professionals who care for pre- and post-transplant patients. Heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel transplantation will be discussed. The symposium content is designed for community/referring physicians, transplant nurses, coordinators, administrators, nurses, advanced practice nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and all members of the health care team who are interested in improving their clinical practice or patient management during transplantation.The course will:• Illustrate and examine the
impact of transplantation on the lives of patients, their families and the donor families for the community health provider.
• Examine the latest developments in transplant management to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide a forum for current trends and opinions in transplantation that can be readily applied to their practice.

technologies to improve communication between health care providers and patients.
• Integrate into the community of practice and determine appropriate pathways for patient care.
