Background• HTG was originally developed to accelerate SCM standards

adoption and implementation• A leadership team was established and made up of the SCM

executives at each institution to oversee the efforts.• An Adoption and Implementation team was established and made

up of those driving these efforts at each institution (within SCM).• HTG leadership desires to work ahead of the implementation and

would like focus on research and development efforts that make full use of SCM data such as PCOR, CER and Surveillance.

• Members of HTG recently individually agreed to act as a think tank for contracts awarded to Cornell and Harvard that pertain to UDI.

• Mercy and Mayo recently agreed to work jointly to develop solutions surrounding the use of SCM information.

Proposed Solution• Create a Research and Development Team. • This team would focus on developing new ways to use SCM

information to drive improved patient care outcomes (both financial as well as well-being).

• This team would be driven by physician expertise but supplemented with experts from SCM, IT, Revenue Cycle, EMR, etc.

• They would develop the requirements as well as field test solutions.• They would also seek funding for research and development as well

as the adoption and implementation.
