UGANDA – 3 NIGHT/4 DAY – GORILLA TREKKING

ENTEBBE, BUHOMA, BWINDI IMPENTRABLE FOREST

Winston Churchill called Uganda "the pearl of Africa", half of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population lives here and it has the highest

density of bird species in Africa. Other reasons for visiting include; Lake Victoria, the Source of the Nile, Murchison Falls, the Nile River, the

chimpanzees and other primates in the Kibale Forest National Park and, although not as famous as their East African neighbours, the wildlife of

the Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks.

Day 1: Boma Hotel, Entebbe

On arrival into Entebbe you will be transferred to Boma Guest House for a stay of one night.

Overnight: Boma Hotel The former seat of Uganda’s government, Entebbe is just a short drive from the current capital (Kampala) and offers plenty to keep visitors

amused. The beaches along the banks of Lake Victoria are clean and welcoming or you can stroll around the fields and forests of the Botanical

Gardens, or pay a visit to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for country’s remaining chimps.

The Boma Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Entebbe just five minutes from the International Airport. The hotel is ideally suited for business

and recreational travellers alike and makes an ideal stopover for passengers inbound on late evening or outbound on early morning flights. The

staff and management team ensure guests receive a personable service and enjoy hospitality standards which are in keeping with the tradition

of this charming lakeshore town. The hotel consists of six bedrooms decorated along African themes, all of which have their own private

bathrooms with shower. A residents’ and diners’ bar set in a landscaped garden with lake views over the beautiful gardens and swimming pool

combine to provide a charming and relaxed “country house” experience. The main house includes a private dining veranda and living room for

overnight guests.

Although a pre-booked dining service is provided to non-residents, the premises retains a quiet atmosphere to guarantee a peaceful night’s rest

for residents with plenty of areas to dine either indoors or outdoors. The Boma’s walled compound has twenty-four hour security and car

parking.

Day 2: Mahogany Springs Lodge, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Fly by light aircraft flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where you stay for two nights at Mahogany Springs Lodge in the nearby

village of Buhoma. Enjoy lunch and relaxation at the lodge, or choose from a variety of cultural activities including meeting the

BATWA/Pigmies, walking, shopping for souvenirs or birdwatching. There is even a golf course nearby!

Overnight: Mahogany Springs Lodge

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to the largest population of Mountain Gorillas. Rugged terrain and awe inspiring forest is home to the

famous Mountain Gorillas (which can only be seen in the Wild in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo). But the forest is also home to 346 species of

birds making Bwindi one of the world’s premier bird watching destinations.

Mahogany Springs is situated in one of the most intimate, secluded, beautiful and most importantly natural settings in the world. The eight

spacious suites include large double doors and windows with a view of the surrounding forest. Additionally, there is a terrace with magnificent

panoramic views over the grounds, river and surrounding areas from each room. Within the main building there is a bar where guests can

sample cocktails or simply enjoy a bottle of fine wine or beer soaking in the tranquillity of this remote setting. Meals are served in the open plan

restaurant with à la carte menus changed daily to offer a wide range of cuisines catering for all tastes. Most of the produce used at Mahogany

Springs is grown on site to provide guests with the freshest ingredients.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Early in the morning your guide will take you the short distance (by road or foot) to the Headquarters at Buhoma for the morning

Gorilla Track briefing and allocation. Trek through the forest towards the Gorillas, and once located your group will spend 1hr

observing them as you marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the Silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in

the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas.

Day 4: Departure

Fly by light aircraft back to Entebbe where you continue with your onward International flight arrangements.
