Using a Repeater hannelUHF CB Repeaters are used to retransmit orrelay your signal. Repeaters will extend therange of your radio and overcome theshielding effect caused by solid obstructions. In normal Simplex operation, your radiotransmits on one particular frequency andreceives on that same frequency. If there is abarrier (Le. Valley) that partially blocks yourtransmitted signal, the probability of anotherradio receiving the signal is very slim. Valleys, tall buildings, metallic structures, ... etc., tendto act as a screen between radiosStandardoperationwithoutthehelpofaRepeaterStation

  • 8/7/2019 Uh 054

    15/27

The signal coming from your radio is receivedby the Repeater station and then retransmittedat the same time on another channel. Thisoperation is called "duplexing".Your UH-054 is designed with the capability toaccess and use repeater stations.Channels 01 through 08 have the option tooperate in Duplex Mode. When any of thesechannels are set to operate in duplex modeduring transmission, the UH-054 automaticallysends the signal at a frequency 30 channelsabove the original. After transmitting, the radioreverts back to its original operating frequency. For example,(1) CH01 on Duplex Mode will Receive onCH 01 but Transmit on CH31(2) CH02 on Duplex Mode will Receive onCH 02 but Transmit on CH32 etc....

If you transmit on CH01 Duplex mode, you areactually transmitting on CH31, the repeaterstation down-converts your signal andretransmits on CH01.

TO operate UH-O54 in Duplex ModeegoCH01 is being usedin your area forrepeater use.

    Press DUPLEXmomentarity. The DUPicon appears.

Press DUPLEX againto deactivate theduplex operation.UH-054 will return tosimplex operation.
