Unidentified Flying Objects…Are they real?

An unidentified flying object, or UFO, in its most general definition, is any apparent anomaly in the

sky (or near or on the ground, but observed hovering, landing, or departing into the sky) that is

not readily identifiable as any known object or phenomenon by visual observation and/or use of associated instrumentation such as radar. These anomalies were referred to popularly as "flying

saucers" or "flying discs" during the late 1940s and early 1950s.

McMinnville is known among UFO researchers for now-famous photographs published on the front page of the June 9, 1950 , reportedly of

an unidentified flying object seen almost a month earlier, May 11. The Oregonian published the photographs the next day, and within a month they

were published in LIFE magazine. The photographs were taken on a farm near Sheridan, Oregon by a Mr. and Mrs. Paul Trent. Mrs. Trent was the first to

see the object—it resembled a classic "flying saucer"— her husband got a camera from their farmhouse and took two photos before the "saucer" flew away. A debate has raged for decades between UFO researchers, who claim

that the photos are genuine and are among the best ever taken of a UFO, and UFO skeptics/debunkers, who claim that the photos are a hoax. Both sides in

the debate have hired photographic experts numerous times to do a professional analysis of the photos, but so far neither side has offered

convincing evidence to prove their case. The Trent's background was also thoroughly checked, and to date no evidence has surfaced implicating them in a hoax. The whole sequence of events has led to a "UFO Festival" being held in

McMinnville each year.

Roswell has benefited from interest in the alleged UFO incident of 1947. It was the report of an object that crashed in the general

vicinity in June or July 1947, allegedly an extraterrestrial spacecraft and its alien occupants. Since the late 1970s the incident

has been the subject of intense controversy and of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object that crashed. The United States Armed Forces maintains that what was recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude helium weather and surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named "Mogul" however, many UFO proponents maintain that an alien craft was found and its

occupants were captured, and that the military then engaged in a cover-up.

SHE GETS A REPLY SAYING THAT IT WAS AN INTERESTING

QUESTION AND THAT THEY ARE OPEN-MINDED TO THIS

POSSIBILITY.

Crop circles are crop formations. They are believed to be caused by UFOs landing and roaming around in the fields. But many people also can easily create hoaxes by using a long piece of rope and a plank to create publicity for their farms, to appear on TV, for simple pranks, etc. making crop circles destroys a lot of crop.

Twenty-six countries reported approximately 10,000 crop circles in the last third of the 20th century; 90% of those were located in southern England. Many of the formations appearing in that area are positioned near ancient monuments, such as Stonehenge. According to one study, nearly half of all circles found in the UK in 2003 were located within a 15 km (9.3 miles) radius of Amesbury. Archeological remains can cause crop marks in the fields in the shapes of circles and squares, but they do not appear overnight, and they are always in the same places every year.

The scientific consensus is that most or all crop circles are man-made, with a few possible exceptions due to meteorological or other natural phenomena.
