10:05–10:40PATIENT OUTCOMES AND THE ROLE OF THE EMDPaul BassettThe Scottish Ambulance Service has undertaken a review of over 500,000 clinical records to evidence the case for change to its response model. We will look at the evidence behind the model, but also the importance of staff and stakeholder engagement. Our staff engagement sessions prepared them for the change with the knowledge that it would have a positive impact on experience and outcomes for our sickest patients.

10:45–11:20MPDS V13.2 AND BEYONDBrett PattersonThe session will review all of the changes incorporated into MPDS® v13.2 and the rationale behind those changes. The new PFC process will also be discussed.

11:25–12:00IF IN DOUBT, SELECT PROTOCOL 26Fiona Bayley, Laura HayesIs Protocol 26 overused? It is becoming one of the most popular Protocol choices for our EMDs. Why is this?

18 SEPTEMBER 08:35–09:10#NOTJUSTACALLTAKER Zerena Duhaney, James GummettHow often have you heard, or said, “I am just a calltaker”? This is most certainly not the case. Let’s put “EMD” on par with “paramedic.”

09:15–9:50DON’T DROP THE BALLFiona Roberts, Mandy TaylorEMDs are expected to perform as jugglers—we aim to juggle whilst presenting to represent the EMD’s difficulties throughout their role. Wish us luck.

9:50–10:05MORNING TEA & COFFEE BREAK

10:05–10:40DID I FORGET TO MENTION ... DEMENTIA?Anna Mills, Susan TuckettDementia is very prevalent in our society. People living with dementia are having to use our service more often; our staff has to overcome this barrier for all.
