Ukrainian Catholic Church, Pokrova (The Protection of the Mother of God)

Today's Feast, known in Ukrainian as the Pokrova or Protection of Mary the Mother of God, is a long standing Ukrainian religious tradition. Icons and

mosaics symbolise this traditional belief by showing as the central figure Mary the Mother of

Christ holding in her outstretched arms a mantle/cape (an orarion) representing Mary’s

constant spiritual protection.

Our Parish is delighted that Bishop Stasiuk, Head of

the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Australia, will be

present with us to celebrate Pokrova and the

importance of this special celebration for Ukrainians

in Newcastle.

Lunch

A delicious smorgasbord lunch will be served, followed

by dessert and tea or coffee.

$15 per adult

(children under the age of 10 years free of charge)
