Conference aims
What do funders, researchers, institutions and publishers expect and want from each other?
What are the key issues that we all need to be aware of?
How are researchers managing changing requirements around funding, evaluation, communication and more?
How are library and publisher roles evolving to ensure they continue to provide relevant support, content and services?
Conference programme
Speakers (30mins+questions) from across knowledge community, e.g. HEFCE, academics (science and non-science), academic librarians, publishers
Lightning talks (10mins + questions) from intermediaries: Digital Science, Kudos, Plum Analytics
Panel session and questions (30mins) at end
Value of attendance Strength of conference: input from all
sectors in scholarly publishing to give wide perspective
Learnt about: new software solutions to support research e.g. data management, altmetrics
Good opportunity for networking Most interesting thing: slide from biosci
academic showing all his responsibilities!

Pick and choose from wide choice of ‘hot topics’ encompassing the overall theme: Lightning talks in 3 separate rooms
simultaneously 3 people gave talks on each topic (10mins each
max.) Topics included: social media, publishing
models, altmetrics, library systems
Exhibition hall with 45+ publishers, intermediaries and technology vendors
Value of attendance
Strengths of Forum: wide variety of topics, short sessions, flexible
Learnt about: HEFCE review of role of metrics in REF; alternative publishing models
Good opportunity for networking Most interesting thing: RSC working with
Kudos to help their authors with altmetrics – could support this in department

Librarians interested in new solutions for supporting access to scholarly research
To keep up to date with these and possibly apply them in own role

2 sessions back to back - difficult to organise time away but good if travelling from afar?
