SPRINGFIELD, MO. SOUTH SIDE SIDELIGHT6

EMERY H.%GUEWOQD. Reporter - The accldent prevention pennant haa

not at this tlme been awarded, but wlth the south shop boys winning pennants Is secondary to preventing accidents. We were fortunate durlng Dweinber a s we only had seven accidents, and only one in which the victim lost any time. As we have almost six hundred men em- ployed In all departments of the south shops, thla record gives us lust one-tenth, of one per cent less than oil. goal. which was 100 per cent. of course.

With due credit to all foremen and supervisors, we of the night, force feel that we are especialliy fortunate inasmuch a s James Bliscampbell, our supervisor. is very active In the prevention of accidents, as he is always on the alert for any con- dition or practice tha t Is liable to cause accidents or injury. He also makes peri- odical ~nspection of all machinetv and hand tools to see tha t they are in 'a safe condition, and a s a result we haven't had but one accident since October and it was of a very minor nature, the vlctim losing no time whatever.

We regret very much to say that F. W. Lampton, our general foreman, severed his connections n7ith the Frisco, effective the first of the year. Mr. Lampton has accepted a positlon wlth the Hunt-Spiller Mfg. Co. of Boston. Massachusetts, and will represent them In the sale of cast- lngs and steel fittings throughout the central states with headquarters a t Fort Scott, Kansas. Our best wishes for his success go with him. W. B. Xlurney is our new general fore-

man, taking the position made vacant by the resignation of Mr. Lampton. Mr. Murney needs no Introduction to either the south shops or the Frisco in general. ns he entered the employ of the Frisco a t the south shops in October. 1909, and worked his way up to the posltion of roundhouse foreman four years ago, hold- ing that position two years and for the past two years has been traveling loco- motive inspector.

Mr. Murney fs not only well qualified for hls new positlon. but Incidentally Is reunted with his first love in railroading -the South Slde Shops.
