ULTERION ® 2500 WT WATER RESISTANCE COATING Stand alone water resistant coating Adds strength Recyclable and repulpable Replaces PVOH in sizing applications Easily formulated Improves adhesive holdout Makes Kymene treated paper repulpable FDA approved for food contact Product Description Ulterion ® 2500 WT is a high Tg, slightly hydrophobic, anionic, water-based resin developed for water repellency and improved strength. It has applications in barrier coatings, overprint varnishes, inkjet formulations, xerographic binder formulations, polyvinyl alcohol replacement in sizing formulations, packaging coatings, and others where water resistance and strength is a requirement. Ulterion ® 2500 WT will make paper non- wicking and provide dry strength for applications at the wet end of the paper machine. The paper made with this product is completely repulpable. Typical Properties % Solids 20 pH 6.8 – 7.5 Odor Organic Appearance Tan to Off-White Color Specific gravity 1.04 Tg of dry film 56°C Viscosity (cps) <50 Origin USA FDA Status Ulterion 2500 WT is composed of ingredients, which are in compliance with FDA for direct and indirect food contact. Application Methods Typical wet end applications use 30 – 50 wet Corrugated liner & medium Improved ECT Makes wet strength papers stronger Coating base liner for wax alternative boxes Handling / Storage Stability Keep from freezing. Store in a cool, dry area, i.e., 70 – 80°F. Keep away from high heat. Heat will shorten the 2-month shelf life. Ulterion ® 2500 WT is also available in 100% solids powder form which can be stored up to 3 years. See below for dispersion procedures. Product Safety When considering the use of Ulterion International products, please refer to the latest Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). A poly-DADMAC is a second choice. Polyamines do not appear to work well and allows for reduction or elimination when Ulterion ® 8029 is used.
