Ultimate Product Catalogue Plugin
1) Introduction WordPress plugins are pieces of software that can be installed to extend and expand the functionality of your WordPress site. One of the primary advantages of using the selfhosted version of WordPress from WordPress.org is the ability to upload and use plugins on your WordPress site. Ultimate Product Catalogue Plugin (UPCP) is WordPress plugin that provides a product catalogue or menu for your store, restaurant, group, etc. It has three default responsive layouts and can be modified with custom CSS. It allows users to separate their products into categories and subcategories. It also supports tags to make your products easy to sort through for your visitors

3) Installation Don't worry it’s pretty straightforward. Before installing this plugin you should have a working version of WordPress already installed. For information about how to install the WordPress platform, please see the WordPress Codex. When you have WordPress installed and running, you need to upload the plugin files to your WordPress folder. There are two ways to install plugin, one is directly from WordPress and the other is manually from your admin panel.
3.1) Steps to Install Plugin from WordPress:
● First go to your WordPress Admin Panel and click on Plugins » ‘Add New’ ● You should see a page like the one pictured below.
● Search the plugin name ‘Ultimate Product Catalogue Plugin’, you will see list of results like the example below, select UPCP plugin to install:
● If you are installing the plugin for the first time then a popup will appear asking if you are sure you want to install the plugin:
● Click on the ‘OK’ button and WordPress will automatically install the plugin for
you. You should see a screen that looks like this:
● Make sure that you click on ‘Activate the Plugin.’ When the plugin is activated
you will have successfully installed the WordPress plugin. You are now ready to configure the settings to suit your needs.
3.2) Steps to Install Plugin from Admin Panel.
● First you need to download the plugin from the source (which is a zip file). You can download this plugin file from: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimateproductcatalogue/
● Once you download the zip file, go to your WordPress admin panel. Click on Plugin » ‘Add New’. Then click on the ‘Upload’ tab. See image below.
● Select the plugin zip files for upload and click on the ‘Install Now’ button. ● You will be taken to the activate a plugin page just like the one shown below.
4) Features
4.1) Add a New Product ● To add a new product go to your UPCP dashboard and select the ‘Product’ menu tab.
● You will see two sections. On the left side you will find options to ‘Add New Products’ and on the right side you will see a list of the products you’ve added. See image below.
● To add a new product you should enter all the required product details (i.e. Name, Slug, Image, Price, Description, and Category).
● Tags will be visible if you have added tags. ● We also provide a timesaving alternative option where you can upload your products from a
spreadsheet. ● To create a spreadsheet, make sure that the column title names are the same as the field
names for products (ie. Name, Slug, Image, Price, Description, and Category), and that any categories and subcategories are written exactly the same as they are online.
● Once your spreadsheet is complete you are ready to upload products from the spreadsheet, simply choose your spreadsheet document file and click ‘Add New Products.’ See below image illustrating the spreadsheet uploading function.
4.2) Add New Catalogue ● To add a new catalogue go to dashboard of UPCP and select the ‘Catalogue’ menu tab.
● Now you will find two things: on the left side you will find options to ‘Add New Catalogue’ and on the right you will find a list of the catalogues that you already added.
● To add a new catalogue, fill in the product details in the designated fields (i.e. Name and
Description). ● On the right you can also edit or delete a catalogue from the list.
4.2.1) Add Product/ Categories to Catalogue ● Once you’ve created a catalogue, the next step is to add products or categories within
your catalogue. ● To add products or categories to your catalogue, select the ‘Catalogue’ menu tab. ● Select the appropriate catalogue you wish to edit. You might want to look at the sample
catalogue as an example, shown in the image below.
● Once you’ve selected your desired catalogue you have the option to add products or categories. See image below.
4.3) Add New Categories ● To add new categories go to UPCP dashboard and select the ‘Categories’ tab. ● Now you will find two things: on the left side you will find options to ‘Add New
Categories’ and on the right side a display listing the categories that you’ve already added. See image below.
● To add a new category, fill in the details in the designated fields (i.e. Name and Description).
● On the right you are able to edit or delete categories from your list.
4.4) Add a New SubCategory ● Adding subcategories offers you a wider range of options to your product. Products can
be assigned to one category and one subcategory, respectively. ● To add new subcategories go to dashboard of UPCP and select the ‘Sub Categories’
menu tab. ● Now you will find two things: on the left side you will find options to ‘Add a New Sub
Category’ and on the right side a list displaying SubCategories already added. See image below.
● To add new subcategories, fill in the details in the designated fields (i.e. Name, Parent Category and Description) and click ‘Add New SubCategory.’
● On the right you are able to edit or delete subcategories from the list.
4.5) Add a New Tag
● A tag is a label attached to your product for the purpose of identification and additional information.
● To add new tags go to dashboard of UPCP and select the ‘Tag’ menu tab. ● Now you will find two things: on the left side you will find the option to ‘Add a New
Tag’ and on the right a list displaying any tags that you’ve already added. See image below.
● To add new Tags, fill in the details in the designated fields (i.e. Name and Description). ● On the right you are able to edit or delete Tags from the list. ● To check which products are related to a tag, select relevant tag from right side to
display a list of products associated with that particular tag.
4.6) Add New Field/ Custom Field
● The Custom Field function is one of the UPCP’s best features. This feature allows users to create their own Fields for us on the Product page.
● To add new Custom Fields go to dashboard of UPCP and select ‘Custom Fields’ menu tab.
● Now you will find two things: on the left side you will find options to ‘Add New Field’ and on the right side a list displaying any Custom Fields that you’ve already added.
● To add a Custom Field, enter required details into the designated fields (i.e. Name, Slug, Type, Description, Input Value and display).
● ‘Input Value’ gives you the option to put a checkbox, radio box, text box, text area etc. ● On the right side, you can edit and delete Custom Fields from the list. ● Once you’ve added Custom Fields, go to ‘Products’ menu tab and you should see the
Custom Fields displayed on your product page.
4.7) Change Layout/Product page style
● This feature allows users to create their own Layout for the Product page. ● To change your Layout go to dashboard of UPCP and select the ‘Product Page’ menu
tab. ● UPCP comes with a default layout, shown in the image below.
● There are two options on ‘Select Layout’ dropdown menu: one is regular and the other is mobile. Select the one you wish to edit.
● To modify your layout, you can select elements from the Basic Elements and Custom Fields lists on the left and arrange them using the drag and drop function on the right.
● Selecting the ‘Restore Default’ option restores the original layout set by UPCP. ● Also, you can adjust blocks on the right side according to your requirements by dragging
and dropping or removing by clicking the x in the upper left hand corner.
4.8) Change Options
● This feature allows users to customize and set different options for the product view. ● To change the Layout go to dashboard of UPCP and select the ‘Options’ menu tab. See
image below.
● Here there are many options which allow you to customize settings related to the product display. For example: catalogue color, XML Sitemap URL, products per page etc
● You can set these fields according to your requirements and preference. ● The table below gives a brief description of each option:

1 Catalogue Color User can set catalogue color from three choice: Black , Blue and Grey.
2 Product Links User can set this to open product link in new page or same page.
3 Read More Allows user to split the description. It is useful when you want to show some but not all of a long description.
4 Product Page Price
5 Character in detail description Allows user to set maximum number of characters in description.
6 Sub Category Style There are two types of style one is normal and other is hierarchical. In hierarchical it lists the parent and child category.
7 Custom Details Icon Allows user to add an icon for details of product. Once uploaded it will display on the product catalogue page.
8 Filtering Type UPCP provides two type of filtering. One is ajax filtering which allows user to get output as user enters query as well as the standard javascript filter.
9 Case Insensitive Search UPCP provide case insensitive search for Ajax Filtering.
10 Tag Logic And is used when user wants to use multiple tags to filter products. OR is used to select only products which are associated with tag.
11 Product Search Allows user to search product by name/description/ custom fields
