Safari Club International (SCI)Safari Club International (SCI) is a world-wide organization that promotes wildlife conservation and education, provides services for people in need, and functions as an advocate for hunters and hunting. SCI’s Mission Statement is: To protect and preserve our hunting heritage through wildlife conservation, education, legislative and humanitarian efforts.

Our local Central Missouri Chapter of SCIOur local Central Missouri Chapter of SCI was created in 1999 to promote, educate and conserve the traditions of hunting. The founding members believed in the ideals and ethics proposed by SCI and wanted to be a part of this wonderful organization. There were 25 chapter members who made this dream become a reality. The members wanted to make a difference in the lives of Missourians and others around the United States. So, they took on four charitable projects: Safari Wish, Sensory Safari, Sportsman Against Hunger, and Hunter Education. These programs have had a huge impact on the people we serve. In addition to our main goals, we also have provided funding for one young man to attend a camp for children with diabetes, conducted many hunter safety classes, reached thousands of people regarding hunting rights, conservation, and SCI goals and objectives through the use of the Sensory Safari Trailer, hosted bone marrow drives, and received recognition from the Missouri Senate, local newspapers, radio stations and even national television!

Safari WishSafari Wish is designed to fulfill the wishes of kids battling life-threating illnesses by taking them hunting and fishing. The taxidermy work is included. To see the smile on the kids faces and the joy of their parents is something to behold! We have taken several kids on a Safari Wish and we are looking for 2 or 3 more to grant wishes to in the next year. Sportsmen Against HungerSportsmen Against Hunger is a program to help feed Missouri’s needy. Hunters who wish to donate venison after a successful deer hunt can donate from one pound to a whole deer at one of our participating processors, and the Chapter along with the Conservation Federation of Missouri pays the processing cost and distribution for whole deer donations. During the past 22 years we have donated 372,031 pounds of venison to charities in central Missouri. This program is part of the statewide program known as Share the Harvest. SCI’s 2021 Artist of the Year, Clint Eagar’s “Majestic Elephant” a signed and numbered unframed giclée print. Being raised in South Africa around Kruger National Park and being around big game for most of his childhood, Clint has deep roots and a love for animals of Africa. Seeing elephants on a regular basis in his youth and photographing them as an adult, Clint has captured the powerful frontal view of this imposing creature in his natural habitat on the African plain with a dramatic deep teal sky in the background creating the strong contrasting shape of the light touching the texture of his body and tusks.

Joe & Judy Robison have donated another hog hunt to our chapter’s fundraiser this year. Many members have hunted their ranch and all have left with great memories and what turned into a lot of sausage! A 2-day/2-night hog hunt at Rockytop Ranch, Lamar, OK. Package is for 1-hunter and includes: 1 management hog, bunkhouse accommodations, transportation to/from the hunting area and a walk in cooler if you need it. Hunt may be upgraded to a trophy hog for an additional fee. Not included: Transportation to/from the ranch, weapon, tips and Oklahoma feral hog permit. Purchaser of this hunt must bring a full paying customer with them. Non-hunters are welcome at $50 per night, kids 12 and under may stay for free with a paid hunter (1 child per paid hunter). 18. Unique 4 day hunt & tour in Spain“Unique 4 day hunt and tour experience in Spain for 1 hunter and 1 observer in North East Spain (Catalonia area), close to the Mediterranean sea. This donation includes trophy fee for a trophy fallow deer/mouflon sheep/roe deer (1 at hunter’s choice) and 1 day of driven hunt for wild boar and daily rates for 1 hunter and 1 observer, professional hunter 1x1, all ground transportation during the hunt, pickup and drop off at airport and gun clearance. The Hunt will take place in North East Spain (Brave coast) by the Mediterranean Sea. During the hunt our guests will be accommodated in local houses with charm and enjoy the finest Spanish cuisine. This is a bow/rifle/muzzle loader hunt. After your trophy animal is harvested we would tour around the Brave coast, north from Barcelona. This area is full of old fisherman’s villages which remain untouched as in the old days. The area is also rich in archeological remains from the Roman Empire and the Greek colonies that settled by the Mediterranean Sea centuries ago. One of the top features of this tour is the visit to Salvador Dali’s museum in Figueres. Included also in the donation is a tour to Barcelona downtown. A private tour to the vineyards to taste different wines and learn about all the brewing process can also be organized. The hunter will also receive a 10% discount on the trophy fee list to add other species. Additional hunters are welcome at $790 /day. Extra touring days at $490/day. 24. Oklahoma PaddlefishingBob and Colton Scoggins from B & C Fishing Adventures in Chouteau OK, are known as two of the best fishing guides who target Spoonbill Paddlefish. They fish onbeautiful Lake Fort Gibson. These fish fight with passion and are pleasantly abundant in this area. Some of our banquet members recently took this trip and caught 24 Paddlefish in the span of 3 ½ hours with the biggest going around 60 lbs. A half-day of this action will leave you both happy and tired! B & C has donated a half-day (5 hour) trip for 2 fishermen. This includes everything you need to fish, as well as water, soda and snack food. All you need to provide is a one-day fishing license and the free paddlefish permit (both available from the Oklahoma Wildlife department app). Anglers are allowed to keep one fish each and they dress the fish for you. This is a fishing experience like no other and Bob and Colton are two of the most knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant guides you could find. The purchaser of this fishing adventure must bring 2 full paying customers with them at $150/person.
