Getting Everything In If your mind’s eye calls for a very wide shot, how about one of these three ultra-widezoom lenses? The zoom range of either lens suits the vast majority of wide-angleshots you will ever take. Even a small difference in focal length makes a big difference. It’s these little details which make good photos great ones.

Ultra-Wide Zoom Lenses

EF 17-35mm f/2.8L USM

With a maximum angle of viewof 104˚, this lens uses a largeaspherical lens for element 1 andanother aspherical lens forelement 15. They correctdistortion and greatly improveperipheral resolution. A gelatinfilter holder is on the rear of thelens.

EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Highly portable lens with highoptical performance and lightweight of 340 g. A very practicalultra-wide-angle zoom. Thelarge front lens group minimizesperipheral darkening, and theflare-blocking diaphragmminimizes flare. Also, with lensgroup 2 being the zoom group,distortion is corrected.

EF 22-55mmf/4-5.6 USM

The replicated aspherical lenselement makes this wide-anglezoom lens light and small. TheCanon-exclusive Micro USMmakes it fast and quiet, too.Great for traveling light. It’salso perfect as your regularwide-angle lens. When the lensis attached to an EOS AdvancedPhoto System SLR camera, the35mm-equivalent focal length is28-69mm.

EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Ultra-wide zoom lens with ahigh zoom ratio. By havingmultiple lens groups moveduring zooming, the lens couldbe made compact andlightweight. The asphericalelement suppresses distortion.High contrast is maintained at allfocal lengths and sharp imagesare obtained.

EF 28-70mm f/2.8L USM

High-performance standardzoom lens whose maximum f/2.8 aperture can be used at allfocal lengths. It includes thenormal 50mm focal length and aminimum focusing distance of50 cm. The large asphericalelement helps obtain a highimage quality comparable tosingle focal length lenses.

This new, compact, standardzoom lens that realizes 90mm atthe telephoto end is virtually thesame size as the EF 28-80mmf/3.5-5.6 V USM. The asphericallens produces high image qualityover the entire zooming range,and the micro USM driveprovides silent, high-speedautofocusing to capture thedecisive moment. Also providesclose-up power to fill theviewfinder frame with an 81 x121 mm subject.

EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6

Standard zoom lens with thesame optical system,construction, and exterior as theEF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 USM. Thedifference is that it uses a DCmotor instead of a USM to drivethe AF.

EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM

Lightweight and compacttelephoto zoom lens with aMicro USM. Since the shortestfocal length is within thestandard or “normal” range, thelens is convenient for snapshotsas well as sports.
